  2. Yes, that cracked me up.

    <Russki innocent look>

    "We let them go"

Yeah, in the middle of the ocean, in an overloaded rubber dinghy, which
the Russkis had probably punctured with a pocket-knife. Way to go :)

Lovely. Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of people. Saw a documentary
about them a while ago. When they're not off chasing boats, they're
raiding villages for everything they can carry away.

Heh, I liked the story of the russian journalists kidnapped in Beruit
back in the 80s. Russian special forces captured a couple of the
kidnappers and delivered thier heads in a box along with photographs
of all the other kidnappers and thier famillies, home, school,
workplace details to the kidnappers with a note asking if the
journalists could be returned in one piece. The implication was very
clear... Give us our people back or we will get you and your
famillies. It work extremely well. No other Russian nationals were
    ever kidnapped after.

You might not like thier methods, but you wouldnt **** them about.

My dad tells the story of when he worked in the Troodos mountains in
Cyprus in 1961 commissioning the then new electronic communications
listening station. On Xmas eve a message started coming through on the
telex, which was a bit unusual because not even Whitehall or GCHQ had
the number by that time and the telex had never even been used
properly, the number was only known to a handful of people.

As the paper started coming through the machine it became apparent that
it was an elaborate xmas card, with a tree and all sorts of additions
printed in a series of characters, and then a message that read
something like "wishing a merry Christmas to..." and then it listed
every soldier present on site at that time, all the staff who were at
home, those who were on leave in UK, every civilain worker and the name
of every company who'd supplied equipment to the station. In addition
to the soldier's names there was their wife's name and the names of any
children. In my parent's case, my mum was expecting me and they even
wished my elder sisters by name and unborn baby of Sgt P.J. and Mrs O.
Bxxxxxx a merry christmas too. At the end it was signed off from the
    Russian Military

That scared the **** out of my dad because they knew everything about
him, my mum, my sisters and had even managed to get the number for the
telex machine that was unknown even to him and he'd installed and
    part-tested the thing.

Next thing you know, they'll be breaking into people's houses and nicking
their car keys, wallets and cars.
