Nah, there's loads of room in the garage. Even if a new toy appears in
    there at the weekend.

I don't recall it being that horrendous. It must have been the antichrist
    of chairs.

Something for Clare, but I don't want to jinx the deal by making a
    premature announcement.
    These things take time.

I'LL GO AND HAVE A LOOK IF YOU WANT ME TO.
Buy an early K series BMW then. There'll be enough of us there to pick
it up when you drop it, I'm taking mine and Donald appears to be
planning on taking his 75 so you'll not be the only one lying on the
    floor.

Alright, there's no need to shout. No, I think I'll give it a miss, but
    thanks for the offer anyway.
A K series would be spot on, if I can find one at a reasonable price and
distance from me. However, I quite fancied the F650 that I was bidding
on last week, but I /just/ missed out on winning.

Eddie knows what the K can do. He's witnessed one murder an RSV Prilly
    going from Douglas to Ramsey.

I would never describe it as having the X factor unless you mean X as
    in wrong.

  9. Ditto. I had the F model, the last 750 before the 850 G. Never had a
single thing go wrong on it, except it didn't like starting when the
baffles were on the way out of the silencers.
Major problem with the earlier ones was Yamaha taking the whole Brit
replica thing (650) too far - letting the customers do the testing.

Teach a man to fish and he and his pikey mates will have the
river cleaned out in a day.

I *might* be outing a K75... But I need a few days to cogitate on this.

Umm, about 80k miles. A bit scruffy but it's been reliable for the last
12 months, give or take a worn drive shaft (replaced) and worn out
starter motor brushes (replaced). I replaced the clutch when I got it
and also the engine output seal and gearbox input seal (clutch was
contaminated with oil.) Tyres are good (front tyre about 1,000 miles
ago, rear about 3,000 which means about another 7-9 from the front and
another 3 or so from the rear). Heated grips fitted... that work.

It's ex filth, has a calibrated speedo and has crashbars fitted. It's
in police white... There will be *some* luggage but probably the city
cases, there isn't a topbox but there will be a mounting for a
Givi/Kappa topbox. Actually, there could be a shite old white craven
style top box fitted on the carrier.

Problem is if I do decide to out it that it's in God's own county[1].

You live in Somerset? I thought you were near Bath. You do enjoy commuting!

.... and there lies the problem. Buying a bike that's at the wrong end of
the country just isn't a good idea unless it's an absolute steal, given
the cost and (more importantly) the time required to collect it.

Am I having a whoosh, or is your geography a tad suspect?

I'm pretty sure Bath still is in Somerset. B&NES is just the name of
the council that covers it, not a county.

No, a county with several councils, like most other counties.

Well I expect my English political geography is pretty suspect but I've been
in Norton sub Hamden and knew it was Somerset. I had no idea is extended way
    up to the M4.

Actually I got a Gatso ticket near that very (pleasant) town. Sadly their
picture was rear facing and they couldn't serve on my Republic of Ireland
colleague who was (of course) driving on the day ;o)

I don't think Avon exists anymore. The website refers to the "Avon
area" which I guess is er... the area that *was* Avon.

B&NES is a unitary authority. You pass signs saying "you are now
entering Bath and North East Somerset".

I can't be arsed with the new name; Somerset's where I was born and I
    don't think Countys really move.
