I seem to remember a few days/weeks ago, you posted a link to some
interesting "work arounds" and info on hacking Garmin GPS's.
Since my 'pooter decided to turn up it's toes last week all my notes etc
have disappeared into the big black hole.
I have, somehow, managed to download the latest Zumo European map update
from Garmin, but I obviously don't have a "key". Was there, in amongst said
information, a way to crack this serial number/keygen thing? or did I
    misread, what I read?
Before I go and buy the lifetime subscription, which is probably what I'll
do anyway, although, I only bought my latest map update end of last year, so
feel rather miffed that I've already paid for the lifetime maps, but missed
the boat, as it where, I thought I'd ask and see if this 3 gb download could
    be used in the interim.
    Thanks for your time.

Have you tried Garmin support, or the Garmin forum? I don't imagine
it's the first time someone's lost the key through not backing up
    their computer.

I've got the keys to all my old maps, this is the new one I've downloaded,
and I haven't got the correct key.
I'm trying to cheat ) but I'll probably just end up buying the life time
    subscription anyway.

That's what I've done. I think it makes sense if you're planning to
hang on to the Zumo for a few years.

    Without doubt.
I'm just a bit miffed though, as I bought the latest update last year, just
before they announced the lifetime subscription. I now have to pay again!!
    Bugger (
