Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique, Champ Many years ago I knew two blokes[1] who borrowed an arc-welder and a hood. They realised that they couldn't see anything through the glass in the hood before they struck the arc, so they didn't bother using it as they blew holes in the thing they were trying to weld (a Viva floor). The A&E dept were pretty bloody unsympathetic a few hours later, by all accounts. [1] Paddies, as it happens...
