After visiting Lozzo's I've decided I need to sort my act out in the
garage and try to get it so I'm not tripping over everything each job I do.

Looking at something like ebay 220580090683

How much could I expect to pickup that, or something similar, for?

SnapOn boxes are bleeding expensive. However, I reckon that one there is
    about on its money.

    You're not wrong.
£300? I can't believe it will go for that low.

Nice set of boxes. I'd say you shouldn't get much change from 600 quid
for that lot, but looking at the lack of bids I'd say you'll get it for
much less. Snap-On boxes usually get a lot of interest early on if they
are to sell for strong money.

    I have one of these:

    http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item.asp?P65=&tool=storage&item_ID=71459&
    group_ID=18012&store=snapon-store&dir=catalog

    One of these:

    http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item.asp?P65=&tool=storage&item_ID=85853&
    group_ID=17761&store=snapon-store&dir=catalog

    and one of these:

    http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/cbb203-3-drawer-step-u
    p-tool-chest/path/clarke-hd-plus-tool-chest-range

They cost me a total of £600-48. The 9 drawer box I bought brand new
off ebay, and the roll cab was a steal at 230 quid from ebay also. I
bought the Clarke box new from one of their shops.

I'm waiting for one of these to come along at the right price just to
finish the Snap-On set off, then the Clarke box will be for sale:

    http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item.asp?P65=&tool=storage&item_ID=83839&
    group_ID=22266&store=snapon-store&dir=catalog

I still don't have enough storage space for all my tools, but I can't
make the boxes any taller or I won't be able to see in the top section
    - my only choice is to make them wider but that means selling
everything and the wider Snap-On chests are so bloody expensive, even
    used.

It could be more, I'm just guessing the model of boxes there. They range
from £150 up to thousands for a top box when new, the roll cabs start at
just over £400. Those ones look like fairly average size to me, and not
    too sure about their condition.

Mind you, I'm a bit out of touch with these now. I did have a set, but
sold those to Pip some years ago.

I now have some of those plastic Stanley ones with wheels.

It's a second hand toolbox. I'm not sure how much 'disposable' most
people have these days but throwing out over £300 on a second hand
toolbox would probably be considered a bit rash.

I'd spend that on a toolbox if mine needed replacing but I'd be buying
a new one from machine mart or somewhere similar. Last time I bought
anything like that I went for the Halfords Industrial range and it
seems capable of standing up to being massively overloaded without the
    drawer runners starting to sag.

    http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/...1_categoryId_165667_langId_-1?cm_vc=IOV4PLPZ1

I think I paid £200 for it and at the time I could have had the
matching top box for another £125 whereas now they'd cost about £360
for the pair. You don't get a lifetime guarantee with them but I tend
to look on that sort of kit as a 5 year purchase as in I replace them
every 5 years and 75p per week is **** all.

    What about this one:

    http://cpc.farnell.com/pro-user/tc5d/tool-chest/dp/SG32957

I don't think it's particularly big, but you could have three or four of
these for the price of the S/H SnapOn box.

  10. Well, I bought the slightly cheaper range:

    http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_
    catalogId_10151_productId_210369_langId_-1_categoryId_165667

    http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_
    catalogId_10151_productId_208831_categoryId_165667_langId_-1?cm_vc=IOV4P
    LPZ1

    http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_
    catalogId_10151_productId_206389_langId_-1_categoryId_165667

Currently that lot would set you back about 310 quid. I think I paid a
    little more.

I've had the top and the bottom for about 2 or 3 years and haven't got
any complaints. Picked up the intermediate cabinet a couple of weeks
ago because I couldn't avoid it at 60 quid. It's been loaded with kit
and hasn't collapsed, unlike the cheaper range I bought from Halfords
    previously.

Buy some Halfords Pro ones & get Cane to do some Snap-on stickers if
you're that worried about the badge.

heh, or Gazz. It's not the badge, it's just a 'known' level of quality.
AIUI with the others it's a bit of trial and error to find ones that
don't bend/stick/fall over. I may well take another gander at Halford's
pro range, but if it's possible to get second hand Snapon at a similar
price I might go for it.

Well that's extremely fucking cheap for a pair Snap-on boxes. They'd be
around the 1500 to 2000 quid mark new off the Snap-on van. And that'd be
with a buy back of your old tat.

Strangely Andy, you don't get a lifetime guarantee on a Snap-on box unless
you kick up a shitstorm when the man with the van tells you "That's not
    guaranteed like the tools"

Wheels and wheel carriers punched through the bottom of the chest nearly
cost Snap-on all the business from a big body shop when they said they'd fix
the chest but send a bill for their time and materials.

The mention of Mac tools may have helped too, but I'm with you on this tool
chest thing. The Machine Mart or Halfords are more than good enough for any
business use, et alone home use where they sit doing **** all more often
    than not.

Machine Mart Si. They do a wide range and they're none of them ultra shite
but they're priced more in line with the real world.

We use one of their "Black" rolling chests for body equipment, so it's full
of hammers, airtools and socket sets (1/2", 2/8" and 1/4" in their own
boxes), so it's carrying a fucking ton of weight, but the drawers have
remained smooth in operation (ball raced) as have the wheels and the
casters. It's also got another MM box on top of it, full (and I mean full)
of metally things, so the total weight I don't even want to think about.

They cost less than a pair Snap-on to the tune of over a grand in total.

  19. That's down to the bloke on the van, I think. Being a franchisee, he
probably saw the short-term large hole in his finances instead of
thinking long-term, like many of them do.

Anyway, sounds like the base of the chest lacked reinforcing where the
    castors bolted on.

£415. Couldn't resist it, for just a little bit more than the Halfords
    stuff.

Anyone coming down sarf fancy UR'ing it :)
