The bloke wot's bought the Tiger has an '84(ish) 70k(ish) mile Goldwing
with a dead starter motor, which he can't be arsed to fix. I get the
feeling he just wants to shift it, for probably not a lot of money,
should you or anyone else be interested.

That'll be a 1200, then, won't it? Not the most desirable Wing, but at
    the right money....

Shame. I liked the fact that the original GL1000 actually came with a
kickstarter, stowed under the false tank, IIRC. Was surprisingly easy
to get going, so it'd be quite fun to have one with a dead starter
motor and watch peoples' faces when you kickstart it.

Dunno, I know nowt about them. My dad did have one with Difazio hub
steering[1], which I suppose was kinda interesting, but they've never
    floated my boat.

I feel I have a sufficiency of GoldWings at the moment, and I wouldn't
    be desperate for a 1200 even if I didn't.

Condition is everything with old Wings. Mileage is borderline
    irrelevant.

Platypus might be an option, if he can tear himself away from biting
Nick Clegg's ankles for five minutes.

I would be a tad concerned about an engine that cannot be seen and
heard running, there may be other issues.
But I dont know the bloke or the bike so .......

No idea. That there Wilson's having a sniff so he may have more info by
the end of the day. Whether he's willing to share it or not is another
    matter.

Wing bumping is a piece of cake. You don't even have to break into a
trot, and the weight over the rear wheel removes the need to jump
    aboard.

that almost looks like a real motorcycle, unlike the two-wheeled
Winnebagos that Goldwings are these days.
