    Bear says...
I was taking the piss, his PC is all up and running and seems to be
pretty good so far. He's discovered a whole new world of superb graphics
in games, so hasn't posted since it was built.

I reckon it's because you can't use hammers or other large power tools
    on them.

Pip is still trying to locate his strong point. Jack of all trades,
shite at most. Education seems to result from getting into a hole and
finding out what bodge works to get out of it.
"Mr Red Shirt" - the ST equivalent of the old Cortina in The Sweeney.

    I actually don't have a problem with (re)building PC componentry, it's
the software side that freaks me out; not least because OSses break so
easily when I'm only in the same building.

Still, each to their own, I say - get a man in wot knows wot he's
doing: Christofire stepped in for me once again and all is fine,
despite my best attempts at a) spending far more than I should have
and b) ordering the wrong bits just because I could.

The new beast in the old box now runs Doom3, UT2004 etc at a very
decent framerate and pisses through Solitaire like it was standing
still, thanks to the very gay, turquiose-illuminated LED PCIExpress
graphics card that was an unexpected expense due to me obtaing a mobo
    without AGP.

    Pah, hardware's a doddle.

It gets trickier if I have the beer first, mind.

Oh, that's easy - you could do it.

You have got an IDE cable for it, haven't you? Let me know if not, I'll
have a look in my box of bits at the weekend.
