SSA meeting.

 

There was something called Juneteenth going on, when I got over
there.. The appointment was postponed until today, Tuesday.. I'll

It's kinda' like an MLK day, on steroids. Actually, I guess
that really MLK day is like JT on steroids. I don't think
that JT's holiday status is official, but all the guvment. PO,
etc. empty out.

I can't understand the SSA making an appointment that
interferes with JT, and then canceling/deferring. I mean
it's not like JT is some kind of surprise?

 

Just got back from SS appointment and didn't like the outcome
very much.. These agencies.. SS and Medicaid are experts at
passing the buck.. The first lady that interviewed me was kind,
and most considerate.. She understood the dilemna and was
making every effort to assist me..

According to the information she had.. the state Medicaid
agency had notified SS that they'd not pay the Medicaid prem-
iums, as of April 1st.. They didn't give a reason in that notific-
ation.. I got the letter from SS notifying me that my benefits
would be cut starting on July 3rd.. According to SS .. the
reason for cutting my benefits was to pay the medicaid
premium charges.. retroactive to April.. Also.. the future
premium costs would be deducted from my SS benefits..

The nice lady was in the process of helping me to immed-
iately cancel the Part B of Medicare, which is the part which
deals with Medicaid.. While we were doing the paperwork
to execute this cancellation.. another lady interrupted us
very rudely and arrogantly.. She demanded to know if I was
aware that should I choose to reapply for the Part B plan..
I'd be penalized an additional 10% to do so.. Being duly
intimidated and overawed by such an arrogant and person-
able lady.. I very politely asked "who the **** she was"..
I was then informed that she was the whole deal in charge
of SS.. This lady had barged in on our conversation so rude-
ly and arrogantly, that I immediately assumed that she act-
ually was the boss of SS..

In my subdued and most meek attitude.. I asked that lady
if she had any idea who I might be.. When she said No..
The shit hit the fan in the SS office and every single per-
son in that place was aware that SOMEONE was there..

I told that arrogant, overbearing bitch that me and every
other person in that office was her fucking boss and we
paid her fucking salary.. The woman's eyes had got big
as saucers and she been leaning across that desk, almost
in my face.. she'd jumped back a couple of feet.. Naturally
a big, uniformed security guard a beside me.. Never said
a word .. When I finished telling her off.. that lady spun
around and left me, the first nice lady and the security
guard.. The nice lady very politely informed the guard
that she didn't need him and he could go about his bus-
iness..

That nice lady gave me one of the most polite apologies
anyone could wish for.. She also immediately went to work
on that computer.. telling me that everything was attended
to, exactly as I requested.. After completing the interview,
I then apologized to her for exposing her to my outburst..
That fine lady smiled and told me not to give it a second
thought and that someone had needed to tell that arrogant
and overbearing lady off.. a long time ago.. She also gave
me a telephone number and encouraged me to call and
complain about my treatment from Mrs. Talley..

As I walked out the door.. I apologized to the security
guard and he told me that he'd only come over there
because he didn't want me to "hit that arrogant bitch"..

All told.. the morning had good moments as well as
some unpleasant ones..

When I got home.. the mail had come.. The Veterans
Administration sent me all the forms to apply for VA
medical and healthcare benefits.. There were also
forms to apply for a benefit that I wasn't even aware
of until all this uproar.. It seems that as a combat
veteran.. I have been entitled to some sort of pension
benefits, since I was 65 years old.. The amounts that
I've heard vary, but not insignificant.. I'll let you know
more about it, as I get the additional information..

I've known about the medical and healthcare veterans
programs for years.. The only reason I've not enrolled
in that plan, years ago.. is my own damned fault.. From
these past few days experiences.. the Veterans Admin
has certainly treated me with more dignity and care than
the SS (with exception) employees combined..

I'll let you know more about the outcome with the VA
programs, etc. privately, as I don't think I want to dis-
cuss all this on a newsgroup.. btw.. I'm informed by
one of our participators on this newsgroup, that all
that VA information is available online.. As a matter of
fact.. in our conversation about all this, he was one
that informed me about those VA benefits.. and encour-
ed me to pursue them..

I completely forgot about it being Juneteenth today. Guess I will have to
get a slice of watermelon, a couple of bar-b-qued ribs, and a red sodie
water and go sit in the shade for a while. Help em celebrate before somebody
comes in a puts me back to work..

 

I think that every US citizen should be required to visit
the SSA annually. That would instill a sorely needed
education.

Of course, that would exclude the non-US citizens. but
they're already there.

Put up with what? I never give beauocracies a hard time. You get more out of
them with a polite positive attitude. <shrugs> Hell I never scream at them,
never curse them. See I'm not an unmitigated liars and assholes like either
walker. I know HOW to get them to do my bidding...I search the web sites for
what I want or who to ask.
I will NEVER need things like social security...why would I? I mean if you are
still working what good is it? Health care? Yep VA, I get bumped up with the
disability and it will be a full ride. Only part that sucks is I have to go all
the way to Helena for my doctor visits. Not A doctor but MY doctor. 8^) Play
nice and you get good things, act like a self righteous prick and just be happy
with what you get. I learned these thing dealing with Finance at 1st CAV when
they fucked up my pay for 3 months. Finally talked to a fellow NCO who when
found the problem did something you never see finance do. Started cussing and
yelling (excellent parade ground voice) and we walked it through in an hour. Far
faster than the normal 1-2 weeks. That made up for the rank discrepancy and the
3 months I didn't get paid.
I got all that by being NICE, PATIENT and RESPECTFUL of my fellow human beings.

KS, never say never.
VA is good no doubt about it.
But when it comes to serious surgery, watch out.
We had a friend who needed EM open heart surgery, and VA lingerred one
day too many, and he had to hire a local surgeon..
If he'd waiting for all the VA papers to get right, and that red crap,
he'd been in trouble. (trou------ble)

Also, the vets I know around here said it got to be hard on them now
that they are old, because of the trips to either LittleRock, 150 miles,
or Shreveport 70 miles, just for something kinda minor.

There's always two sides to every story,or points of view. (even Mike of
Renegade had his side) that's the way it goes.

Some of the finest doctors in the world are performing miracles in the
VA hospitals.. There might be some delay or waiting for minor colds
and the everday aches and pains, but.. in emergency situations.. the
VA will pick up the tab for any treatment that you might require.. VA doc-
tors can refer you to specialists in every field of medicine/surgery and
then reimburse the physician who treats you.. Prescriptions are free and
as required will be mailed to you without any inconvenience on your part..

The Texarkana area is well known for it's healthcare industry and the
doctors in that area are dead set against anything VA or otherwise that
might infringe on their loss of patients.. For every anecdotal horror story
you might report about your friends who've been persuaded they should
not enroll in the excellent VA healthcare and medical program for Veterans
and their dependents.. I can share some very real stories of the mercenary
practices of some doctors and hospitals in Bowie county..

All that being said.. Little Rock is a little more than an hour away, in a
fast
moving ambulance and Shreveport is just an hour away by that same means
of transport.. The doctors and hospitals in Texarkana, especially.. have
been
very successful in brainwashing many people in that area.. that they should
use only the local medical facilities..

You can rest assured.. from personal experience with that bunch.. if
anything
happened to me around that place.. I'd request immediate transport to any
outside facility, as soon as I was able.. There is a very good reason that
Texarkana has the most hospitals and clinics, per capita than any other
place
that I know of.. count 'em..

I believe this entire episode has been designed to stir up trouble in
our family, Bjay.. Louie, RedShad, Jerry and no doubt Big Ed all
