  1. What can I say?

It appears that Alastair has decided to be as big a cock (if you'll pardon
    the phrase) as TOG.

If you wish I shall post to you all I said to him (the basics being "I think
Nick might find your description of ukrm funny" and "You're not going to win
this one") so you can call him a humourless twat too.

Obv I thought I was dealing with an adult on the ns board and I was wrong.
There's no need for a war (of words or whatever) between the ns lot and ukrm
as it will just inconvenience a number of people who aren't involved (hence
my original posts here and there). So I apologise for trying to tell him to
STFU, and will, in future let him get flamed without my crappy interference.

But I was right about TOG. Even he admitted that.

You were right? Well that's nice. Very balanced of you to admit it.

  4. Really?

Oh... lucky lad - he'll be on for a guaranteed shag soon then I should
    think.

You must have fallen out of the clique now then, cos it makes no sense to
me, as a semi-lurker either. Although I must admit, TOG posting his "Look
Dave doesn't like me, and he's telling people" thing, kinda disappointed me,
I thought better of him than that. I assume the plan was the rest of UKRM
would then ridicule Dave or some shit?

Your point in the earlier post about how you see UKRM these days is pretty
    valid I reckon.

"Need a hand with that tent?"
I did go in trying to be helpful but I think all concerned can see all
he's done is show himself up when I've been nothing but reasonable
    with him.

I had been wondering what all the fuss was about so I revisited the
    original 'clocks' thread.
The first few responses were terse but presumably accurate replies that
the posters did not have the instruments searched for. They were not
'helpful' but nobody at that point actually got at the OP so far as I
could see. I suspect Alastair then browsed around other postings and
formed an unfavourable impression of UKRM which prompted his peevish
comment about not expecting any help. Then, naturally, he was fair
    game.

No problem with a bit of internicine usenet war (including
cross-posting to reekie), but your helpful contribution to a very
focussed one or two model, yet alone one make forum was probably doomed
to failure. Having said that, if they really do want to be a totally
exclusive closed brethren of NS worshippers they should tighten up the
joining process and have a moderator personally approve applicants.

Now many on here may totally dismiss moderated groups of any
description. The free for all on here is perfectly acceptable because
that is in the nature of the ethos it operates under. IMO there is a
place for moderation on a marque forum. Otherwise you just get twats
dropping in to slag off 'your' marque and post chav speak piffle about
theirs. Waste of bandwidth and server space if nothing else so far as
    the administrator is concerned.

  8. You mean: "It's OK for me to say it, but beyond the Pale for someone
else to tell someone I've said it." You really need to re-assess
    yourself.

    No, you didn't.

You're not making yourself look clever.

    Oh, megod, that's funny.

"I'm not really interested in a load of slander from another forum being
    brought onto this one"

"I have no idea why I bother. You're worse than TOG and obviously have a
    lifetime free supply of rattles"

"it seems Wavydavy is upset I made his comments public without
identifying him. Well I'm identifying him now. Frankly I'm pissed off he
has brought his troll mates over here and would request that others
faced with a similar situation think before posting."

They *really* don't do irony on that forum, do they?

  11. So true. Unfortunately, a lot of people coming from moderated groups and
    fora don't realise that.

I'm also amused that WavyDavy, who says he doesn't like people posting
about goings-on on other fora, should do exactly the same.

And also, don't pay attention to different cultures. You'd not have the same
"robust" discussion in The Shed as you do here. I'm vastly amused that
Alastair thinks he violated the ukrm posting code. Is this like the clique?

As far as I can see, Dave made an accusation that you (perhaps unwisely)
admitted to. Remember these words, " It's all true: I am an arrogant
tosser"? After that it is getting a bit hard to see the point in you going
on about the issue. Unless of course you are keen to demonstrate that you
"walk the talk". Or perhaps you were more hurt than you care to admit and
took your revenge with the original "sensitive wavydavy" thread - in which
case you have already achieved your objective because he now has problems
here and in the ns400 forum. There may be a history to all this that I
don't know about but frankly IDGAF. Its all getting a bit tedious now. I
usually enjoy reading your contributions and I enjoy reading his and I would
like to continue to do so. Lets get back to attacking the real enemies -
anyone who fails to snip sigs, doesn't punctuate properly or who thinks this
might be a place for serious discussions about motorcycles.

  14. Absolutely. I've been called arrogant for years. All those people can't
    possibly be wrong.
Erm, would you like to see who started this thread?
Nope - as I ssaid originally in that thread, I thought it amusing. And
then I put it out of my mind, until WavyDavy decided to bring it up
    again. And I'm still grinning.
He does? I don't think so, actually.
    Well, quite.

This Alastair chap appears to be having some kind of mental episode
and thinks that I'm trying to be a troll when I've done nothing other
than reply to someone elses post saying what usenet is. He seems to
have gone to the length of researching 'BGN' and posted the contents
of my website index.html and email address on the forum.

Do you think they have guidelines against this kind of thing in his
    forum?

I called him (TOG) a tosser and he(TOG) posted here that he was proud to be
a tosser. Makes me right, doesn't it? If he hadn't agreed I wouldn't have
said it in the post to Nick.

Why worry about him? It's a moderated group so you can't really have
any fun with them before you run the risk of being kicked off.
The only guidelines are the moderators personal opinions so that's
what you have to deal with.

I'm curious at to why WavyDavy has decided to edit his posts to the
forum so nobody can see what the **** he was saying on there. Surely
it wouldn't be because he thought someone from ukrm might read them
and take the piss? No matter how much I might regret posting something
I've never cancelled a post and if I was sure I was in the wrong I'd
probably just publicly apologise on the group and be done with it.
