'A woman police constable was killed on the Paris
Périphérique. She was on the back of her boyfriend's
motorcycle, when the bike was deliberately rammed by a
car being driven by a Guadeloupean. He was apparently
annoyed that the bike was filtering. The WPC was
dragged along underneath the car for approximately two
km, before the driver fled. He was arrested later on
by a mobile patrol of the 'BAC' (Brigade
Anti-Criminalité) based in Arcueil, and handed over to
the third judicial police division. The rider of the
bike, a member of the motorcycle squad based at police
HQ, is in hospital in a state of shock. His life is
    not in danger.

    The couple had three children.'

JP lost one of his guys while [I think] you were away, although not in such
    overtly 'criminal' circumstances.

    Got your results yet?

Thank ****. You've got rid of that horrible newsreader, or at least, the
quoted printable bollocks. Now I can see the accents in all their glory.

  15. Not yet. Writtens took place 16, 17 and 18 March.
Results available 02 June 2004. If I pass (and bear
in mind that they're not 'exams' in the true sense of
the word, but competitive entrance tests, thus one can
get a the equivalent of 10/100 and still be accepted,
as it all depends on the 'coefficient' and on the
average), then I get a letter asking me to attend the
oral part, which is much harder than the written, and
    takes place in Toulouse.

The writtens were horrendous, lasting five hours on
each of the three days, taking place in Lognes (77),
and involving essays on 'Scarface', de Quincey,
Tennessee Williams, Rimbaud, Hugo, Baudelaire, and the
    like. :-(

    We'll see.

You sound like you're not mad. Good. Long may that remain the case.
