I went to ASDA, so that's unlikely.

I did however do as stated and found the fattest person I could on the
checkouts. She was chatty, helpful and efficient but obviously
completely bored out of her mind, however she was making the most of it.

Not a scientific test, but she didn't strike me as stupid.

    You sound tetchy...
Anyone that rises to the top of a newspaper, becomes an MP etc. etc.
etc. is not stupid. They may have blind spots but are most definitely
    not stupid.

Piers Morgan, he made a bad call and he's paid the price. Sooner or
later he'll be back somewhere. Cream rises to the top, or is it scum?

No, but I know from first hand experience that the British were far
more welcome in Iraq than the American were. Although this has
probably been eroded continuously since the 'end of the war'.
That's not the general impression I got.
Abuse is intolerable and abusers should be dealt with to the full
extent of the law. But I don't see what this has to do with publishing
    photos?

    I never said that.
I thought we believed in innocent until proven guilty? Why not just
hand the photos over to the proper authorities? Publishing them in a
national paper could prejudice any legal proceedings and result in an
acquittal for the defendants, why would the Mirror want that?

I'm sorry if I give that impression it's not the way I feel at all. I
do have a problem with allegations that are presented as facts though.

Er.....try telling that one to the poor Iraqi sods who have had the crap
beaten out of them for no good reason
The 'proper authorities' managed to ignore the International Red Cross
report. When forced to admit its existence they tell us that action has
been taken but won't tell us what it is. There is no evidence that any
'legal proceedings' have taken place. I have a sneaking suspicion that other
evidence presented privately would disappear into the same black hole.

Indeed - as mentione in one of todays papers, isn't it a bit odd that so far
the only people to lose their jobs have been the head of the BBC, a reporter
and the head of a Tabloid.

Yet the reasons we went to war appear, at best, exaggerated, the conditions
of that war, at best, not ideal and the ramifications apparently worsening
by the day - and not one single person in government appears to be
    accountable.
