Wots it like to ride? Does it actually stop and turn, or have they
managed to faithfully reproduce late sixties bendy frame technology and
    handling?

I thought the late 60's T120's were the pick of the bunch, prior to
the introduction of the oil-in-frame jobbies?
    cheers, Bill

  5. If it's anything like my Bonnie was (and lets face it, it is) it should
stop and turn quite well indeed. IIRC the only real (non cosmetic)
difference is the Thruxton has a few more cc's and adjustable preload
on the front forks. If it's cursed with the same crap rear shocks as
the Bonnie, it will be oversprung and underdamped and generally
horrible. The biggest trouble with my Bonnie (apart from a plank of
wood instead of a seat and the rear shocks) was grinding things on the
Oxley (up to and including the header pipe). The slightly more rearset
pegs on the Thruxton should help a bit I imagine...

It looks great in the yellow, I'd consider one of those in yellow if I was
in the market for a new bike. Or should that be ALLOWED to be in the market
    for a new bike. lol.

I'd be interested in some feedback on the Thruxton, as I am considering the
purchase of said beast, although my colour preference would be black :)

    Cheers

still ruuning it in, but it handles quite well and goes well

nudged a sppeed near 110kph and there was minimal buffetting

front brakes in pretty good - tho havent done any hard brakes yet

engine is very smooth , much smoother than the trx and seems very free
revving even from new with zip kays very happy to rev to 5g at which point
you can here it start to werk

    4g in 5th equals 105kph

thruxton has few more cc and supposed more herbs than the 865 bonneville
    t100

also a 300mmm semi floating disk as opposed to a solid disk - does brake
    pretty well
yep on preload adjustable front forks

yep same average rear shocks ill be ditching mine for a set of ikons in the
    near future

i sdont find the seat to bad, plenty of my own padding

the rearsets and the clipons make the thruxton heaps of fun to ride at any
speed which is why i bought it

future mods include some decent pipes

    okay feed back so far

bearing in mind im still running it in

    verdict lotsa fun

    pro's

    lotsa fun to ride

motor seems to have plenty of poke, even taking it easy running it in , im
115 kilos and it moves along nicely
you arent going to be dragging any r1 but thats not the point. motor is very
smooth and free revving. tho ex factory it came horribly
smogged out and running very lean - bigger sized jets and a k+n filter have
helped fix that - new louder pipes soon - stock ones are very quiet

rding position is too bad depending on what you are used to riding - a jap
sports bike you would have nay problems , coming up a upright or a cruiser
you might find it a bit diffent. from my trx850- its a little more sporty -
but i found you soon get used to it, and its a good ring possie once you are
    in the bendy bits.

suspension is okay to a point, ill be replacing the rear shocks with ikons
and the front forks will prolly get stiffier forks springs - stocks its okay
but can be better, depends abit on how hard you want to punt it along

brakes seems fine and suits the bike, obviously not quite a 4pot radial
brake stoppie king, but seems plenty fo the bike

i find the seat comfy enuff others dont - seems okay to me and the riding
pozzie lets you move around on it

feel free to email me for any q's

  15. Money well spend I'd suggest. I couldn't really afford the Ikons so I
got the cheaper Hagon shocks, which while they looked the goods in
terms of old school styling weren't all that much better than stock
after a while. They only had 3 preload settings and no rebound or
    compression dampening.
I'm not wanting in the padding department either, but I still needed a
dead sheep. Even then it was still a plank, Thruxton seats might be
better (they surely couldn't be worse).
I had modified stock pipes on mine which sounded good but the bloke who
bought it off me put a set of staintune reverse cone mufflers on which
    sounded absolutely magnificent.

Oh, if it takes the same air filter as the Bonnie, I'd recommend
getting a Unifilter foam filter so you can clean and reuse it no
rejetting required either. If it's the same as the Bonnie, put some
duct tape over the frame before you remove the air filter as there is
no way to get it out without it pressing hard up against the frame.
