I'm planning on getting back to racing a 600 (up from lightweight
classes) next season. I know that I'm not in the same shape I was when
I raced an F3. I also know I'm faster than I was back then thanks to a
season on an EX 500. In other words, I wanna step it up a notch, but I
wanna make sure my body's up to it. In the past, I confined my
training to some weight lifting, indoor cardio-intensive warm-ups (jump
rope, stationary bike) and outdoor cycling. Now I reside in a cooler
climate and will have other things available to me, like cross-country
skiing in the winter, more outdoor cycling on and off road (possibly
might get an XR100 as well). I've also gotten more into swimming.
Does anyone have other ideas on road-racing specific cross-training
from personal experience or otherwise? One thing I haven't seen much
information about is raceday strategies (warm-ups, food, mental, etc.).
Wish I could afford Rich Oliver's school :)
