So we are not taxed in any other way? I would have thought that the majority
of my income going in tax should cover a couple of wheelchair ramps without
    blatant revenue raising.

I lived interstate back then so Im 100% innocent of any wrong doing.
What does it matter you vote for one or the other, they are there for
them not us. ANY of them.

But at least Kennet got Vic out of the shit and into the + where $$
are concerned without 12 trillion speed cameras per foot... Couldnt
have been all bad could it..

You know what they say about people who point the finger at others and
question their sexuality. Perhaps you could change your prior references in
other parts of this thread from Hess to Hoover?

Correct Sir Doodle. Although the agreed code of conduct gets bent at times (Link
Rd at St Ives for example - fixed camera at the end of a down hill stretch after
a blind corner - not the way it's supposed to be done)

....but you only need to check your speed when you're going past a speed
camera... and there aren't really _THAT_ many of them around. Not so many
that you're going to have to look at the speedo more than you would as a
    matter of course.

  8. Hess followed orders and said so.
Hoover appears to have made up his own. That's the way the history has been
arranged to read, anyhow, and Hoover never took the fall for anyone higher
either at trial, or elsewhere. Ever. Hess did.
Anyhow, it follows that 2IC of the FBI 'under' Hoover is the equivalent of
Hess, and I wouldn't have a clue who that, or they, were.
Besides, since I was attempting to rub 'somebody's' nose in the following
orders shite, and Hess is the one with the veracity of the Judgement behind
    him.

Oh yes, the "they say" remark. Remember, you mentioned ASIO, but strangely
not the other 5 or so bunches of shady turds who do similar useless task
sets at our expense. (I hope you pay some tax, for the common good, you'll
    understand).
I wasn't so much questioning the sexuality of ASIO operatives about which I
don't give a rats arse, so much as alluding to their loyalty and the
retention of it by time honoured and well proven means.
Besides, no one would be stupid enough to tell me they were an ASIO
operative, because if they were from there and they knew anything at all
about me, they'd know I would out them in a heartbeat.

I don't recall anything about penalties for outing them anyway, because
we're not supposed to know who they are. That's the game, you see.
How could I possibly know they were there for the outing?

A GovCo has absolutely no business keeping stuff secret from those they
serve or for that matter lying like pigs in shit to them - end of story.

    Step right up.

I don't think so. Think they do if they are accusing YOU of something?
Doubt they are obliged to identify themselves just because YOU are curious?
(I'm not totally sure on any of this though)

  10. Ahh, shit - here we go again....
    I didn't mention Law.
Nor did the poster I replied to.

Implicit in your shot is the assumption that I regard stupid arbitrary
    speed limits as Law.
    But I don't, and that's my option.
    They are a joke.
As is the enforcement of them.
    And I get the joke.
    Many don't.

In Perth the camera operators were issued parking tickets for parking on
    reserves whilst manning Multanovas.
Local Council refused to rescind the tickets after official requests.
    Stopped that spot being policed!
(no myth, reported in local papers)
    cheers

  12. Isn't that the reason for the little numbers they have to wear, and
remember. IIRC, they are set into a single badge, so they can't get them
    out of order by accident.
They can swap the little numbers with their pals using other hiding places,
or at opposite ends of a riot, and so on and so forth:)

Ahh yes! But that would require YOU to read said badges, doubt THEY are
required to read them to you :) or even point out their existence I would
    surmise?

With, I noticed the other day, not one but two video cameras
trained on the speed camera itself. They must have a larger
than usual vandalism problem with that one.

Rhetorical: is it still called 'vandalism' if it's a good thing?

Way back when (early 1990's, the old North Sydney police
station) it was my turn to get beaten up by a cop, he
noticed mid-way through that I wasn't even looking at him,
I was staring intently at his numbers, so he stopped, left
the room, returned without the numbers and continued with
    the beating.

I guess he didn't want me to remember that his serial
    number was 66312.

  17. Err, yes.
It makes sense that they wouldn't have to tell you the number, since the
ones on the uniform mightn't match, and the rule makers would be quite well
aware if the problem, since they've often 'come up through the ranks'.

This is fun. Pity the resident cops are on R?A time - they're missing it.

Yup. The camera operator was parked on the verge near the Casino and a
Victoria Park parking inspector gave him a ticket. When it got into the news
several other Councils started issuing tickets to operators parked illegally
in their areas. The camera operators are now more careful where they park.

Mate; I've been riding bikes for 30 years but I can't keep to 50 or 60 kmh

I seem to naturally ride at 70-ish in suburban streets.

(I haven't checked but this may be due to the engine characteristics of the
XJ. It might vibrate at 50/60 but be smooth at 70 in top so I just
automatically sit in the smooth bit.
The reason I say this is that I found myself unintentionally speeding when I
bought my Trump 'cause my previous UJMs all vibrated at 100-110kph and I was
automatically using that vibe to "feel" the speed. The Triple didn't
vibrate so I just kept creeping up faster and faster until the man in blue
    said "stop".)
