Chinese businessmen never died out, especially ethnic expat Chinese who
were safe from the ravages of Mao and the like. Sure, internally their
numbers were reduced during the excessive days of the Great Experiment /
Fuckup, but the Chinese are a very enterprising race and given the sheer
number of them it's hardly surprising that thrusting individuals make
their presence felt when there's a buck to be made somewhere.

Hard-working buggers, too.

 

I thought that too but it seems not. Their govmint has a pretty firm hand

Peace and contentment! A dog eat dog circus more likely. I expect not
unlike Britain during the industrial revolution.
I know they have their own internal islamicists, I meant they don't let the
detrius of the world move in, and they are somewhat more capable of dealing
with internal "issues".

All great empires fall but I don't think their will topple in our lifetime.
One of the reasons being an inscrutably different mindset to ours.

The likes of you and I in the West who are insulated can enjoy watching how
it pans out over the next couple of decades.

 

Being inside a British trade onion isn't currently a position of strength
