Last week or so someone mentioned the Kata 465 backpack for carrying
ones gear around. Well, I sourced one from Amazon for much cheapness
and it's bloody brilliant. I went out at the weekend with the
camera+lens and 3 other lenses[1] all nicely snug in the bottom section
of the pack. I walked a fair few miles and the pack was comfortable all
day. The top section held some other bits and bobs as well. Thoroughly
    recommended.

I went mad with the Sigma 10-20 which turned up last week, but I'm not
sure if it's not as sharp as I was expecting or my technique is letting
me down and maybe I was focusing on the wrong bits. I expected this
lens to have huge amounts of DoF and everything would be in focus, even
    at wider aperatures.

    See what you think -

Fascinating little critter it was. Taken on my utterly superb Nikon
    60mm macro.

[1] including Nikon 70-300mm zoom and the almost fat Sigma 10-20mm.

Guilty as charged. Glad you like it. For those wanting to carry a
laptop too the larger 467 version (which is the one I have) rocks too.

    I should be on comission.

  5. Nice pics anyway.

I took the ebay plunge and I'm waiting on delivery of a 350D with
18-55mm lens, a couple of memory cards and all the usual gubbins, plus a
Sigma 55-200mm lens that was hidden away in the description. That'll
keep me going for a bit, if I need more zoom I reckon another lens will
put me on the same spend as a new 450D, so am happy.

  6. Impossible to tell how sharp those are at that size, even the 1024x680
ones. All I can say is they're not shite.

Look OK - it would be interesting if you could put the full size ones up
there - maybe developed from the RAW originals - in camera jpeg could be
    the problem.

They look good I have to say, but there is something about them that
means it would be nice to see the full size versions.

Ah yes, now my memory is coming back. Yes, thanks for that, it does
    indeed rock.

Yeah, it's strange, I uploaded the full res 4288 wide versions and they've
been cropped down to 1024. So that was worth my upload time!
I have no problem with jpeg processing. Shots taken on the other lenses
seem sharper, but with such a wide angle there's so much in frame from 2m
    in front out to infinity[1]
I'll see what I can do about that.

    [1] and beyond!
