Just wait till your car brakes down in the middle of the night miles from
anywhere, all of a sudden the idea of having a mobile is a good one.

If not why not? (Other than 6x9 is very simple.)

Fair comment, but weight that up against the cost of buying or renting one
and there costs outweigh the benefits for me at least. Other people I know
without mobile's don't drive or use cars.

No life outside the limited reality of your computer screen then eh?

I know what you mean but I have a mobile, just in case like.

  5. No, it needs the second greatest computer in the
Universe of Time and Space to answer the question.

(Not getting you down, am I?)

Many of the people I know who do not have mobiles don't have computers
    either.

I have never owned or indeed used either a mobile or a computer.

You can get them for about £50 if you don't want a fancy one or a lot less 2nd
hand as long as it's PAYG you can get ones where you don't need to top up unless
you run out of credit I probably make about £20-£30 a year in calls and try to
keep a minimum of £20 in credit should I need it.

More powerful than the Milliard Gargantubrain which can count all the atoms in a
single star in less than a second!?

Doesn't mean you need to carry one everywhere you go. My mum takes the
phone out with her on trips in the car but apart fromt hat it gets left
at home quite alot and spends most of its time turned off.

What if she has a real emergency ... like wanting to know the precise answer
to a multiplication of a three figure number with a two figure number?

What has financial wealth go to do with it? Believe it or not there are
people people who simply don't want such gadgets solely for the purpose of
    keeping up with the Jones's.
