just did the same thing last month, restored a '74 XL-175 Honda enduro. Great fun to work on because they are so simple and a blast to putt around on. Yep. I'm one of those RV Snowbirds ya hear about. I spend Winters in Phoenix, and Summers up here in Gunnison, colo. In between I spend a couple to three months in Albuquerque. Been havin' some GREAT rides over the high passes. Went down 5 sizes in jets to get the thing to stop fouling plugs..grin Two strokes. Got a friend with an old Yammie (all my bikes are Yammies) four stroke 500 Enduro. I keep trying to talk him out of it and he keeps saying "No Way". One thing about old bikes,.....I understand 'em. Yes, I remember the thread from which you are referring to in regards to the GL1100. There's nothing wrong with buying a used vehicle. So it turned out to be a lemon, big deal. It wasn't like he was purposely being cheap and buying a bike that was known to be a clunker. It sounds like he thought he was buying a decent bike for a proper price but got the wrong end of the deal. Does that mean he's a dipshit? And as far as income what has that got to do with it? My brother-in-law (now there's someone that needs to have the shit beat out of him - how much would you charge to do it for me <g>) has his own leather goods company where he imports stuff from South America and sells to several large stores in Florida. He has a really nice house in an expensive part of Delray Beach, FL, along with three cars, a newer BMW, a new SUV, and a little car for the live in babysitter. And being as close to the beach as he is he is paying out the backside for homeowner's insurance along with paying to put two kids through private schools. On top of this my sister (feel free to call her any name you want, in the past I have only tried to kill her twice) has been going to college full time for the last three years to become a nurse. With all this going on he doesn't have a spare dollar to even think about buying even a basket case motorcycle. He makes at least 4 times as much as my wife and I do yet we have a lot more free money to play with and waste on hobbies then he does. Heck, if I didn't have so many hobbies (model trains, R/C cars (both on and off road), plastic models, dirt bikes, old trucks) I could go out and buy a brand new bike of my choice. But since I like playing with all my other stuff on top of motorcycles I choose to be a cheap bastard and own old, out of date clunkers anyhow. So what if I need to work on them every now and then. Brian, I don't know sunny, mags, stan, you, mark, albert, ... etc., any of them from a hole in the ground, when it comes right down to it. I can only go by how people act (here) and what people say (here), since this is the only place I interact with many of them. Most of the people here - even those I engage in debates - have been pretty stand up. Don't need to be best friends or agree all the time to show a little respect and close an argument now and then. But, having been (and continuing to be) at the receiving end of your false assumptions, false insinuations, false accusations and just plain old lies and venom, I have to attach damn little credence to most of what you say. Others are in the same boat. But you don't see that... or actively choose not to. I don't know which. If you're choosing it, then the rest is all just a waste. I'd rather believe you're simply blinded to some things, not by choice but by habit. That's easy to fix. I don't care if we disagree on the fundamental elements of water - I don't care - but the way you, and your dad, go on and on and on and on repeating lie and assumption, false conjecture and insult, over and over again, just to make people see your "point" really hurts your credibility when you (and he) actually take a moment and FINALLY say in plain words what's on your mind.
