Over 300 tons of high explosives were looted because of the bu$h regime's gross negligence and incompetence. I wonder how many soldiers lost their lives or body parts due to that major blunder. It's hard to believe that we still have people like Albert Nurick and Bob Thomas defending the incompetent draft dodgers and war criminals on the bu$h regime after so many major failures. http://www.commondreams.org/cgi-bin/print.cgi?file=/news2004/1029-18.htm "On October 28, ABC affiliate KSTP released footage that was shot by its embedded reporters on April 18, 2003, showing members of the 101st Airborne Division searching the Al Qaqaa bunkers. Clearly visible on the tape are containers marked with labels that indicate the barrels contained the high explosives in question. ABC World News Tonight broadcast the footage on October 28, noting that soldiers opened the bunkers that had been sealed by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), discovered the high explosives, and then left those bunkers open and unguarded. Given that the tape was shot nine days after the fall of Baghdad, it would appear to prove that at least some of these explosives were looted after the U.S. invasion-- a scenario that is consistent with statements from Iraqi officials and witnesses to the looting (Agence France Presse, 10/27/04; New York Times, 10/28/04). As ABC's Martha Raddatz put it, "It is the strongest evidence to date the explosives disappeared after the U.S. had taken control of Iraq." - http://www.commondreams.org/ http://www.truthout.org/ http://www.prohibitioncosts.org/ http://thirdworldtraveler.com/ http://counterpunch.org/ http://responsiblewealth.org/ http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/pol/80315675.html In September and October 2003, McClellan said he had spoken directly with Rove about the matter and that "he was not involved" in leaking Plame's identity to the news media. Yeah, they hate food, water, and shelter, too. Those people are weird like that... Because his brutal U.S. backed regime had one of the worst human rights records on the planet. Most people don't like being beaten and tortured. Your trolls are too blatant. http://www.jebhemelli.net/mossadegh/Coup/day_democracy_died-essayMK.htm "The notorious SAVAK was created to imprison, torture and assassinate our pro-democracy activists. Thousands upon thousands of Iran's pro-democracy activists were subjected to sever torture under the Shah's brutal savage rule. Torture by monarchists included rape of daughters of political prisoners in front of their eyes: the most infamous case being the rape of the daughter of Ayatollah Mahmoud Taleghani, the respected liberal cleric, a leader in the resistence to the coup regime since August 1953 coup and a member of INF until 1961. The monarchists, like the fundamentalists after them, used rape as a form of torture of female political prisoners. Human rights violations were so severe that Amnesty International declared the Shah's regime as "the worst violator of human rights in 1975." - http://www.commondreams.org/ http://www.truthout.org/ http://www.prohibitioncosts.org/ http://thirdworldtraveler.com/ http://counterpunch.org/ http://responsiblewealth.org/ http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/pol/80315675.html In September and October 2003, McClellan said he had spoken directly with Rove about the matter and that "he was not involved" in leaking Plame's identity to the news media. Wilson's report proved the claim was a lie - like most of the pro terroism crap you've been spewing. Dead wrong again. Don't you ever tire of spewing silly lies in support of war criminals and terrorists? http://www.commondreams.org/views03/0812-05.htm "The United States insisted that aluminum tubes Iraq tried to purchase abroad were for those centrifuges. Almost every scientist outside government -- and most inside -- believed they were, as Iraq said, for an Iraqi version of Italy's Medusa 81 rocket. Gellman and Pincus report, "Not only the Medusa's alloy, but also its dimensions, to the fraction of a millimeter, matched the disputed aluminum tubes." When Secretary of State Colin Powell made his famous appearance before the U.N. Security Council in February, he insisted that the tubes were meant for use in centrifuges. That case was buttressed, he said, by the latest batch of tubes, which had "an anodized coating on extremely smooth inner and outer surfaces." Gellman and Pincus report that an anodized coating actually was an argument for rocket use. It would have protected rockets "from the sort of corrosion that ruined Iraq's previous rocket supply" -- and, moreover, would have needed to be removed for the Iraqis to use the tubes in a centrifuge." Kinda hard to weigh your "bits of evidence" if you won't list 'em. Here, try again. Show us your "evidence" so that we can weigh it. It must be very convincing if you "think" think it justifies violating international law, murdering tens of thousands of innocent civilians, and getting well over ten thousands U.S. soldiers killed or severely wounded, and wasting well over $200,000,000,000 taxpayer dollars. Produce your "evidence", Albert. 'Course, you could just run off and hide from yet another challenge.... <chuckle> Can you be more specific? Show us the treaty and the wording in it that was violated. Exactly which resolution was Iraq violating, and what did Iraq need to do in order to be in compliance? According to Hans Blix, Iraq was cooperating well with his inspection team. You seem to be spewing pro war, pro terrorism, pro hate lies again. http://www.commondreams.org/headlines03/0127-04.htm "Iraq Largely Cooperating with Inspectors, UN Security Council Hears Chief UN weapons inspector Hans Blix said Iraq has largely cooperated with arms experts, in a report to the UN Security Council that could determine whether the world body backs military action against Baghdad." - - http://www.commondreams.org/ http://www.truthout.org/ http://www.prohibitioncosts.org/ http://thirdworldtraveler.com/ http://counterpunch.org/ http://responsiblewealth.org/ http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/pol/80315675.html In September and October 2003, McClellan said he had spoken directly with Rove about the matter and that "he was not involved" in leaking Plame's identity to the news media. Tell us about all the sacrifices and hard work you In Nurickworld, bombing raids, death, destruction, war, crimes, torture, terrorism, check points, ID cards, kidnappings, midnight home raids, warrantless searches, detainment without due process, curfews, snipers, a censored press, torture, a puppet government, and an illegal occupation by foreign invaders may equate to freedom, but on Planet Earth, it never has, and never will. I suppose you "think" Hitler brought "freedom" to the countries he "liberated", too, eh? You really need to do some reading, and stop swallowing and puking back up the hate and lies of war criminals, terrorists, and torturers. Here, read this and get some truth and perspective. ROTFL.... What trouble ? That's funny.... Post your trash.. Usenet trash is what this is all about.. One trashy newsgroup creep got part of what was coming to him.. IRL.. Since he's not satisfied with that, he'll get some more of it... That's good.. ROTFL... you don't have reason to be afraid of anyone in Texas...
I'd put this one somewhere between "beyond a reasonable doubt" and "beyond a shadow of a doubt". Iraq looked unecessary before we went in and what I've seen since then reinforces that view. If you want to argue it's still uncertain, that's fine by me. I'll leave you to debate this one with yourself. I expect that some time before 2008, withdrawal will become a political necessity. At the time we'd lost the 1000th troop, my bet was total losses in the range of 1500-2000. I think this was mildly optimistic. I'd expect we'll cobble up some inspirational phrase like "peace with honor" (remember that one ?) and wish the Iraqi government best of luck. If it turns out better than that, I'll be delighted. I see the intellignce services as dutifully playing scapegoat and taking a bullet for the prez. It has mostly to do with my observations of how we rushed into the war. I guess I'm fairly indifferent. The war will turn out however it turns out. You'll eventually I hope get past this uncertainty of yours and reach your own conclusions. Cheers.
