Proven facts. The decision to invade Iraq was made, then intel was manipulated and distorted to support that decision. Read it. Learn the facts. bu$h lied. It's not an allegation. It's a proven fact, and it's been confirmed by others such as Paul O'Neill and Richard Clarke. Do some reading first, then post your opinions. http://www.commondreams.org/views04/0405-10.htm "Richard Clarke was right. So was Paul O’Neill. During the six months before the 9/11 terrorist attacks the Bush administration paid little attention to the threat from al-Qaeda and instead set the stage for a war with Iraq." The real tragedy is that bu$h's waste of over $200 BILLION taxpayer dollars and thousands of lives building a training and recruitment center for al Qaeda in Iraq, has weakened the United States dramatically in almost every respect. http://www.commondreams.org/views04/0405-10.htm "Richard Clarke was right. Peering fretfully out from under his tinfoil hat, "Hank" 17, count 'em, UN Security Council Resolutions demanding that Saddam ACCOUNT for his WMDs. at the time of bu$h's illegal, immoral, You wouldn't know the truth if it bit you on the ass. You are not only monumentally misinformed, you are unable to differentiate between opinion or allegations and fact. bob
Peering fretfully out from under his tinfoil hat, "Hank" You are not only monumentally misinformed, you don't know the difference between an allegation and a fact. The decision to invade Iraq was made, I read it. I told you what it said. It's a staffer's allegation. It speaks to that staffer's impression that "Bush wanted to use military force". We don't know who this staffer spoke to or what was said. It also speaks to FACTS and INTEL being "fixed around" the policy. What does "fixed around" mean? If it meant "manipulated and distrorted" it would have said so. And, AGAIN, it's a staffer's impression. It is an allegation. And, it says "wanted", not decided. I've wanted to do a lot of things I never actually decided to do. It's a proven fact, and it's been "confirmed......." by other allegations. I have. I posted the actual words of the memo. YOU post opinions, allegations, partisan ankle biting and lies....and think they're facts. bob
Compare and contrast Iraq and the Cuban missle crisis. When inspections were suggested, the response from Washington was something along the line of "He's had twelve years to disarm already". which interestingly enough, he seems to have done. In retrospect, I believe the administration was never about to let the weapons inspections proceed, because if they came up empty, it would have left Saddam in power with not many excuses for the continued sanctions. You can argue that regime change may have been a good objective in and of itself, but nobody ever got a chance to debate that and congress never got a chance to vote on it, because the WMD scare was used to stampede the country to an authorizing resolution.
We made a nice ride over the Cherohala skyway and down the other side into Robbinsville. Warm and sunny on the TN side, cool and wet on the NC side. That made the roads nice and greasy. With that weather, we decided to skip the Dragonslaying for another trip and head on through Maggie Valley. Went right through the town but didn't see the museum. I could have asked, but I was particularly lazy. Another trip will be needed to that area since we skipped the Blue Ridge parkway as well. We headed back through the mtns to the north, and headed to Kentucky via Cumberland Gap where we found many more fine rides and met up with fine friends in Hazard for a IRL. A short trip to Buckhorn Lake was nice and a fine lodge there awaits yet another day. Across KY towards Memphis tomorrow. Seeya later.

Bob Thomas whined, cried, and lied: Confirmed by facts and documents. You should try to learn the difference between bu$h's lies and proven facts. The memo proves that bu$h's attack on Iraq was pre planned and that intel was manipulated to fit that plan. Invading Iraq was an illegal act of choice, rather than a necessary defense of The United States. Can you be more specific? Show us the treaty and the wording in it that was being violated by Iraq at the time of bu$h's terror attack. Exactly which resolution was Iraq violating, and what did Iraq need to do in order to be in compliance? According to Hans Blix, Iraq was cooperating well with his inspection team. What is your proof for claiming that Iraq was deceiving Hans Blix and his inspectors? You have no idea what you're babbling about. You don't know the truth. And, I suspect you wouldn't tell it if you did know. bob
What you think a "fact" is doesn't even approximate the reality. Sigh. I'm getting a bit tired of pointing out the obvious to the oblivious. The memo "proves" NOTHING. The memo ALLEGES that "Bush wanted to use military force..." As to "pre-planned" I'd be very surprised if that were not the case. Obviously you know nothing about the contingency planning that goes on in the Pentagon. Come to think of it, that statement is over qualified. "You know nothing" would have sufficed. The memo also ALLEGES that "the FACTS and INTEL are being 'fixed around' the policy". "Fixed around", used by that individual does not necessarily mean what you want it to. Invading Iraq was an illegal act of Your opinion, such as it is. Why do you support bu$h's lies, Your abilities in invective far exceed your ability to reason or seek facts. No, I just have a problem with idiots such as yourself. bob
