Is there a benefit, apart from the obvious fees involved, for a
recovery/insurance company to claiming for personal injury
    compensation?

I ask, as I have had 3 calls today trying to push me into going for a
personal injury claim, despite me saying all along that I don't want to
    claim.

They even suggested that, even though I was against the injury claim, I
should claim anyway and give the money to charity.

For example: the no-win, no-fee (NWNF)solicitors (which seem to be
nigh-on all of them these days) insist that you take out an insurance
policy which I believe pays their disbursements during the claim
period and will pay their wages should the claim fail. There is no
premium to pay initially, but I've no doubt that will arise. There is
always money in insurance, too - rakeoffs to brokers, finders etc.

The fee for the NWNF are paid by the losing party - the insurance
company providing cover for the person responsible for the incident.
The fee are not fixed monetarily, but is on a percentage of the
damages awarded (or agreed) to the injured party - in my case 50%
which means if I am awarded 10 grand then my solicitor scores 5K on
top of that (prolly plus his disbursements etc).

So yes, there's big bucks about, for apparently little effort.

  4. we've been going through this with The Doctor, only in this case it was
them trying to make us claim for the damage to the bike (all of 25
    quids' worth)..

After the eighth letter, when I'd told them from Day One we weren't
claiming, in which they asked whether the costs of the engineer tey sent
to view the bike, I sent them a rude letter.

Reply arrived this morning saying they'd closed the file. I bet they
    haven't.

Basically, every little fucker in the food chain sees it as a way of
making a few quid "because it's on insurance".
