WHILE PROBABLY NOT WORTH MY EFFORTS, I REMAIN CURIOUS AS TO THE
POSSIBILITY OF THERE BEING A MOD OR ENHANCEMENT THAT WOULD SIGNIFICANTLY
IMPROVE PERFORMANCE ON A SINGLE, 4 STROKE 125CC...
.....TO WHAT EXTENT WILL A SO-CALLED "HI PERFORMANCE" MUFFLER HELP?

I'VE BEEN RIDING THE KAWASAKI 125CC FOR ABOUT 5 MONTHS AND THE ITCHING
FOR MORE POWER IS GETTING GREATER AND GREATER (ALTHOUGH THE HANDLING AND
MANUEVERING IN TRAFFIC/INNER CITY IS PHENOMENOL {TOTAL WEIGHT 291 LBS}).
UNFORTUNATELY MY BUDGET IS IN THE 1.5-2k AREA AND WITH THAT LITTLE
"BLING-BLING" GOOD DEALS FOR MODELS OF YRS 1998 AND UP ARE FEW AND FAR
BETWEEN.....HENCE, BEGINS THE SEARCH FOR A WAY TO BOOST PERFORMANCE AND
STICK IT OUT, HORD EVERY PENNY UNTIL I CAN BRING HOME A BRAND SPANKING NEW
    VULCAN.

IF THERE'S ANYONE THAT CAN ENLIGHTEN ME, I WOULD APPRECIATE THE
    INFORMATION.

    THANKS!
    lATER ON THEN...

You must be new to newsgroups I guess. It is incredibly bad form to post in all capital letters.
Firstly it is difficult to read, and it is also the equivalent of shouting, and considered very
    rude.

Please type your posts in lower case, as if you were writing a letter to someone.

Now, which Kawasaki do you ride?

Since we're now in nitpick mode, how about *you* putting in a carriage
return/newline in your text, oh, about once every 72 characters?

I hardly think it is nit-picking. I was just trying to help the guy out and stop him getting flamed
too much, not trying to be clever like you. I actually did post something constructive to him in
asking for his bike's model, where did you help? Also my post was in a friendly and helpful tone
    whereas yours was clearly sarcastic.

I set my newsreader to wrap at 100 characters to prevent longer URL's from wrapping in posts, which
is annoying to me so I guess it is for others. My reader automatically wraps posts I am reading, I'm
    sorry if yours does not.

    Ouch!
    All caps is shouting....
    Okay, enough "shouting" advice. :)

    I ride a few SR250s. It's a Yamaha single from the early 80's.
You can improve the performance on those by:
    Opening up the exhaust
Opening up the air flow into the carbs.

One guy on a website I haunt used a lawn tractor muffler to get better
exhaust flow. Another fellow added a pod air filter from a Volkswagen to get
better air flow through the carbs. He added a pod filter for the breather
    also.
You are riding a little "in-town" commuter bike. You will never get any
serious performance from it. If you want more get up and go, get up and buy
    a bigger bike.
If I was you.... and I'm not , last time I looked, I'd just keep saving my
money towards the bike I want and keep the little daily bike just the way it
is. You will eventually get the cash you need to upgrade rather than slowly
pi$$ing away your cash on the one you own.
    My 2 cents.

    Hey thanks Dwarf8...
Well, thanks for providing some practical solutions. Good advice.

I will be certain to follow proper message writing etiquette in the future
to avoid making waves with these people who apparently are getting laid
    enough out there. :)
