People not fit to breed

I've been stewing over this for a few days, waiting for a period of relative
    sobriety to post it.

A while back a six-year-old child was killed when he had an "accident" on an
ATV. His father let him use the ATV without supervision on the farm. The
father didn't think it would be a good idea to put a helmet on the child in
case he might come off, or overturn, or just lose control (the child's legs
    wouldn't reach the footboards).

    The inquest was this week.

"Well, I thought he might break a leg or an arm, but I never thought he
would hit his head", said the father, who says he has been around bikes and
ATV's for 40 years. "He was a very experienced rider, he's been riding
since he was two". "He did nothing wrong, it was just a bad break".

The mother said words to the effect of "Accidents happen, it was just bad
    luck"

They both have been doing the rounds of the news shows saying how unlucky
they are and how they'd hate people to think that they didn't care about
    their child's wellbeing.

    Pond scum.

The press report it as a 'motorcycle accident'. No motorcycle, no accident.

  2. I've always believed there should be a license system for breeding, similar
to driving a car. Some people should not be allowed to do either.

Isn't it funny that you need a license to drive, ride and catch a fish, but
anyone can create their own humans to wreck havoc on the world.

Licence system for breeding, similar to driving a car? Hmmm. Does that mean
a theory test followed by practical. With Transport Dept. watching?

I think you mean licence for upbringing!!!!! If that were the case, some of
    us wouldn't be here!!

  5. With current technology you'd have to be very unlucky to get knocked up
unless you tried (and some can't when they DO try) so I suggest some form of
"You can't have kids unless you prove you can keep them" test.

Sad to say it but Hitler -almost- had the right idea.

    works.

  8. Exactly. The window for conception is fucken small so to stumble across it
by mistake while taking proper precautions is un-fucken-likely.

  10. Oopsies = not taking proper precautions when they know full well the
    consequences.

Met a woman in her mid-40s at the hospital when my daughter was born. She'd
had her kids in her 20s and planned and worked toward a world tour after
    they'd left home.

She'd been told she was six months pregnant. Not happy Jan...

Sort of like standing at the prison gate upon release only to see the gate
    open into another prison...

Haha! That's a pretty dim view of the concept of having children, isn't it?

Garngeffuct, paulh, I might be soft but I'm not whiny or sanctimonious :)

Are you suggesting you could mount an argument that the parents have
exercised normal common-sense? (I _know_ you could mount an argument about
anything, but I mean a cogent argument).
