This is North Wales, right? We probably have to assume the worst then.

If this is for mobile use for catching people driving like a twat then I
don't have too much of a problem with that.

If it's for parking up at the side of the road and taking pictures of you
    doing 32mph in a 30........

It was parked up at a cul de sac junction, near some (non operating)
road works, I was waiting for the temporary lights to change. My
daughter (pillion) noticed the occupants and pointed them out to me. 2
trafpol in black NWP polo shirts and what I assume was a laser/camera,
the people carrier was bedecked with aerials etc.

Groups of sports bikes whizzing past in the opposite direction (A5 near
Cerrig y Drudion) no doubt all contributing to the funds as there was a
temp. 40 mph restriction in place

True 'nuff, the beauty of this one though was the plod vehicle was at
the end of it so it was getting those who accelerated a tad earlier than
    they should have ..

On friday night I was hoping for an unmarked car to show up.
A friend of mine was driving like a tit and refused to slow down despite my
complaints [1] and I really would have loved to have seen blue flashing
    lights behind us.

They obviously forgot their rules about "safety" vans being clearly marked.

[1] had it been on any road other than a motorway I'd have insisted on
    getting out. [2]

[2] Next time I see him there will be a very frank discussion about this.

It does make a mockery of the claim that cameras are there to reduce speeds
and not necessarily catch speeders doesn't it.

What I find more worrying is that they banned him from driving for a
    non-motoring offence.

Tell that to the Cheshire Trafpol, using a bus lane for their van and a
couple of cars, last week.... and the same spot used for a traffic
    census, 2 days later.
