Watched the BBC coverage of qualifying from Valencia this afternoon.

While their bloke in the paddock was interviewing either Stoner or
Hayden at the end of qualifying, you could see Dani Pedrosa in the
background, chatting to the Spanish tv chap.

He had a big smile on his face and the two were obviously sharing some
sort of joke. Not at all the image of Pedrosa that we're fed by the
    English-speaking media.

I wonder if Pedrosa just comes across as humourless because he is so
wary of journalists who describe him as, well, humourless? It could
quickly become a self-fulfilling prophecy; interviewed in a foreign
language by a journalist you don't trust, it would be hard to be
    forthcoming and effusive.

I know that Daijiro Kato was always made out to be quiet and reserved
by the western media, but I saw him clowning about on stage during
the "Suzuka Eve" festival celebrations before the eight hour, chatting
animatedly to the crowd while wearing comedy shades, etc. He was
obviously a very different character to his home fans than the the
Kato that was presented via the international press.

  2. It seems like somebody tuned into the Spanish side of things would have a
true sense about it. Have Noyes or Mamola made a comment either way?

    Who is?
I don't know for sure, but I get the feeling Dani would act a "little"
more human if Puig wasn't always in the picture. Is it me, or does that
guy come off like the Emperor and Dani a young Sith apprentice?

  5. Miserable, unhappy people seldom excel at anything. The mindset you
describe is really rather dysfunctional. Until he ditches Puig, and
grows a little, he'll never have the emotional grounding to win the
    championship. IMO, natch!

It might be worth having a little perspective here. Plenty of riders
have hated the whole PR thing, and have been considered a little
spikey - Lawson is the first example that comes to mind.

Yes, a few weeks ago, Mamola was talking about doing events and being with
Pedrosa away from the track, and perhaps more importantly away from Puig.
He said that Pedrosa was having a great laugh and was a really nice guy -
specifically saying that he's completely different to his track-side
    persona.

Similar with Stoner I guess. Many of the UK riders say what a great guy
he is, but he behaves very differently when he's at work.

Much like many people I work with too.

But it's all part of being in MotoGp. If Pedrosa wasn't interested in doing
the part of the job that keeps the sponsors happy, he should either have
thought about that before beginning his career or be thinking about it now.
    Plainly, he hasn't done.
You must be a real ugly muthafucker :)

There's nothing I can say about him that's not already been said.

    That goes without saying.
