I am going to buy a parts washer for my shop. I like the old stoddard
solvent but it is getting so expensive because of EPA standards.
Is there anything that works just as well that can be used as a cheaper
    alternative ?
    Thanks,
    Raz

Lot of kerosene heaters in the boonies. Also, I have an Aladdin kerosene
lantern that is almost as bright as a Coleman gas lantern and much quiter.
Getting the mantles is a bitch, though.

Kerosene or #1 diesel is also the accelerant of choice for starting the
    woodstove on a cold morning...

I've always used shellite in mine, doesn't leave the oily residue like
kero does. Over here its about 15 bucks for 4 litres...
