One of the Bandit's brake pad retaining pins seems to be stuck (big fat
hairy surprise, eh?), so I guess I'm probably going to have to destroy
    it to get it out.

So far, I've phoned four dealers, none of whom have any in stock. Surely
it's not /that/ rare that they need replacing, is it?

It's just a little pin, with a hex socket and threaded section at one
    end; #6 in this image:

And how much do they want to charge for it? GBP11.74! For that?!

Anyway... anybody know any online/postal Suzuki parts suppliers that
carry decent stock and won't charge me a ridiculous amount for postage?

Try Suzuki Spares Direct in Harlesden.

Seconded. Might be the same price but the service is spot on.

  5. Thought it was the backs that were famous for sticking, had to drill
mine. My fronts came out easily even though they looked pretty bad.

    Impact driver?

Fowlers do Suzuki spares and if you order anytime up to 4pm you're
pretty sure of getting it next day.

Dunno... never got as far as doing the rear. Decided to go and curse at
    a different Suzuki instead.
    Ha! And further: ha!

Started off with a 5mm hex bit on a breaker bar, but realised straight
away that there was too much play and it was just going to round out the
    hole.

Moved up to a 6mm hex bit - it almost went in, but not quite. Brayed on
a bit with the impact driver, then decided to sod it and just cleaned up
the pistons as best I could with the pads in place, until I could get
replacement pins. Once they arrive, I can really go to town on it.

Didn't have any PlusGas either, which didn't help - don't know where the
can that I'm sure I've got is hiding, and bloody Halfords didn't have
    any in.
Think I used Fowlers last time I needed something - the service was
fine, but I felt that they charged an excessive amount for postage.

ITYF you're preaching to the choir.

I'm not sure that copaslip actually /prevents/ the pin from sticking,
but it's not going to hurt any. I suspect the pins had actually been
copaslip-ed the last time they were replaced - the caliper bolts
    certainly had been.
