  1. And it went through a severe mid-series trough in the late 90s where it
just wasn't funny and lacked wit, relying on hackneyed old jokes. Hard
to consistently hit the top, I suppose. These long running shows chew up
and spit out writers like a mincer.

  2. Sounds like a winner.

Were there *any* tits in SatC? I watched a couple of episodes in hope,
    but gave up in disgust.

Regularly. Only one of the 4 women never got them out - the girl who
played Carrie - but she didn't have much to show anyway. I wouldn't mind
a crack at the ginger one, Miranda.

Ah. I must have watched the wrong episodes.

I doubt I'll bother to correct the situation, TBH.

Well we bought it over 4 years ago, but always intended to build the
pool and cover, so kept some cash back for it. As it happens, it's
taken so long it's all been financed out of earnings, so I've not had
to touch my stash, which is still earning more interest in a UK bank
than the mortgage rate we're paying here.
South Alsace. It's our full-time home though, not a holiday home.
    Heh.

Wel our cellar room is walled off from the wine cellar and houses the
pool pumping equipment. Plan is to floor part of of it and install
shower, WC, and sauna. We've already got a spiral staircase in place
to access the pool area itself.
TBH I'll stick with a leccy one. CBA to start a fire going every time
I might want to use it, plus it's not really practical where it will
    be.

I find it odd that anyone could see any similarities between the two.
The main difference, it seems to me, is that each FS sketch showed the
characters in different, albeit similar, situations and re-worked the
jokes to fit. LB only has one joke per character set, and plays it
again and again without any change except the backdrop.

That, plus the LB 'jokes' aren't actually very funny, even first time
around. FS is still funny in reruns time after time.
Many of Harry Enfield's, and later Paul Whitehouse's characters were
based on real people. My wife used to work at HE's local in Camden and
I've met the inspiration behind the 'old gits' for example.

  10. S'alright for some! No mortgage here though, perhaps we should get one
and put the money in the bank!
    Ours too.
Yeh, I know what you mean. We might go for the leccy sauna. But with
lots of wood on the ground up the hill going to waste if it's not cut,
and four child slaves, it seems a shame not to do it.

I;m off for a week now, might see you when I come back.

  19. Have you ever seen the Austrian sketch show, "Tohuwabohu"? I really
must try to track down some DVDs of it.

Wahay! IMDB has an entry for it and even lists Gerhard Berger in
the cast -- I remember that series. Hmm, no sign of a DVD, thobut.
