I phoned up Carole Nash yesterday to renew my insurance
and rather than just taking payment on my card the agent
insisted on asking me about every detail. Am I being
paranoid or do they have the latest lie detection kit
on their phones? And should I not have hesitated when
asked about recent convictions? It was due to a sore throat,
    honestly.

Yes, they do. Lots of companies use the same voice analysis software.

But I didn't lie and the only options on the renewal form were a free
phone call or an expensive stamp.
Assuming that they do have lie detector software, I wonder what they do
if a possible false statement is detected. I suppose they just ask the
question again, "Are you absolutely sure that you haven't fitted a
    turbocharger to your Hayabusa?"
