Due to one thing and another, I'm thinking of selling my Pan.

Any idea on value ( TOG).

It's a 2000 W reg TCS/ABS, one owner (me), oil and filters changed every
4k, brand new Motad system, rack and givi box.

It's burgundy and has done 72k.

    Thoughts?

I'd have thought a couple of grand: the old ST1100 is in the want.
Shame it hasn't got the pannier kit, because then it would well over
    two grand

My local dealer, Sunami of Sutton, has got the cleanest old Pan I've
ever seen. Burgundy, like yours, three-piece luggage set, heated
grips, and only 25k miles. Minter, really. Asking price £4.4k, which
sounds a lot, but the old Pan is like the old BMW K1100LT: very highly
rated by Them Wot Knows and better bets than their supposed
replacement bikes. I reckon he'll get over £4k, certainly.

    I thought panniers were standard?

It has the panniers - I've never seen on without them. It's got
everything it should have, plus the Givi top box and baglux.

I should add that it's spotless. Like new. You won't find a spot of rust
or dirt anywhere. I keep my bikes nice. This still looks showroom apart
from the odd scuff on the wheel rims from tyre changes.
Based on how clean mine is, I was hoping for more than 2k.

Unfortunately British buyers have been dictated to by the likes of
Glasses Guide who reckon a touring bike like yours should have no more
than 5K miles a year on the clock. There's an equation for valuation
taking into account high mileage which would possibly see you owing a
buyer money because you had the cheek to actually use your bike as it
    was intended.

Your bike is 100% immaculate, I don't know of anyone who has cared for
their bike more than you, but because of what I mentioned above the
    value is seriously affected.

You should get £2.5k then. Sorry, I thought the panniers had gone
missing or something, as they weren't mentioned.

Actually, no, they couldn't. He took over the business about 25 years
ago when it was a bike spares and accessories wholesaler, under the
Sunami name, and he decided to keep it, reasoning that while every
smart-Alec would say; "You've spelt it wrong!", they would at the same
    time remember the name.

Again, I think the cognoscenti may not be bothered, because they know
the bike is good for another 100k miles. Many Beemers, Pans, Wings,
Guzzis, various other odds and sods: clued-up buyers aren't too
    worried about the miles.

Shame. It's too nicevto sell as scrap. Perhaps it will be worth more in
    a few years!

Might try nigebaying it come spring.

All true sadly. Might have to keep it - I might ride it again one day.

If I had the spare cash and the use for it I would snap it up at 2.5K
because I know just how good a bike it is.

I've sold a bike or two in the past after I've had a really near miss
on it (1) / people I've known have ended up hurt on one.

However... I always ended up missing having one to the point I ended
up getting another in due course.

Given how clean your bike sounds, assuming unlocking the capital in it
isn't a consideration, I'd be inclined to keep it for a while yet if
it were me - sounds like you'd have problems finding one in as good a
nick if you got the bug again.

At the very least, I'd be keeping it until the weather warms up (May
    onwards, ideally).

For one, you're more likely to sell it / get a decent price for it.

And for another, you might find if you take it for a bimble when it's
more of a pleasure to do so, i.e: warm and dry, it might relight your
fire for it, so to speak. :)

    (1) Doesn't really happen so much these days, so yes, in retrospect
maybe it was more down to me than anyone else. ;-)
