Having spent a week on the mainland on my Guzzi, its apparent that for
anything other than shortish blasts its not a great bike to spend time
on. Its underpowered, as Aide will attest to, and has zero protection
that makes anything over 80odd a pain in the neck.

I met a couple of guys on Pan Euro's this week and they looked just the
ticket (they dont all weave either apparently).

I cant afford a new one, but an 04/ 05 looks doable price wise.

Anyone got any experience with these bikes, and can confirm they are
    decent mile munchers?

I've done 1450 km (minus 100 when I got tired and someone else rode for
an hour) in one go on an 06 model and can confirm that it is a
mile-muncher and very comfortable at that. I still can't get over the
sportiness of the bike as well. It's got such a low centre of gravity,
you won't believe. There's a sweetspot in the windshield height as
well, get it just right and there's no wind at all.

I can highly recommend one and will get one probably as soon as I can
    afford a bike again.

I've got ~60K miles on my '03. I hated mine since I got it, but that's
because I liked my '91 Pan Euro so much. It's grown on me. Eminently
road-worthy, and yes, it will go forever, comfortably. Minor quibbles
    - the lcd gauges are illegible in daylight, the saddlebags cannot be
left unlocked, too many fasteners, etc.

<Waves> Boring **** that I am I love mine. It was the 1300s that wove
when the plod overloaded the back-end way, way over specification. The
1100's are arguably the best bike Mr Honda ever made. Getting old now,
though. However, in the UK the salt on winter roads plays havoc with the
1100's rear swing-arm. Find one that's not been used in winter and you're
    on to a winner.

My Pan was the first one that plod used for evaluation, it had done very low
miles, hadnt been chopped about & was mint. I paid £1100 for it, as it was
in north jockland, i sold it for £2300 three months later :)

    Not even close...

Original 'blade, and the VFR750 are way higher on the list.

It will match his Berlingo perfectly. Utilitarian tool.

But in fairness, if you ever fancy a game of golf on the spur of the
moment, you can use the side-stand as a club.

My GS has 103k miles on it and some temporarily disabling mechanical
issues. <g> And, you're almost on the wrong side of the US, but it'd
be a fun ride out. I'm tempted to contact Thumper and fly out to buy
one of them RTPs in Hollywood for a song, then ride it up the PCH
ending in Calgary for the June reeky gathering up there.

    I'm weighing options now. :)

    What is an RTP?

    Rufty Tufty Poultry?

On second thought I don't want to know.
