Another point in favour of the 1500, then.

I know that, I rode it home.
Hardly. I finally spoke to the nice workshop chief at Fowler's who
told me that they won't charge for diagnostic work (already about two
days labour), they'll only charge for the work for actually fixing the
problem (and not for failed attempts) and the system is not storing
the fault so your site, interesting though it is, wouldn't help.

Given that it has to be taken apart to be diagnosed ...

On the other hand, as reported elsewhere, Fowler's are doing the
    decent thing.

Could you remind the group what you do to yours though? I recall posts
    involving wheel removal/replacement etc.

Ie you do lots of things to it, which if the same things were done to any
bike would probably result in similar 'reliability'...

Plus, as is often used to poke you with, the back of the bike's mostly new
    anyway isn't it?

I like to keep it clean and serviced. You probably drop yours off at
the dealers for that - I prefer to do it myself.
I don't think so. I looked after the 'busa in the same way, but after
one year (and only a few thousand miles) it had needed more replacement
parts than the Pan has had in it's 4.5 years and 70,000 miles.
Not that new - 50k since the incident now.
