Paint on screen

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Power Grainger, Sep 6, 2003.

  1. Anyone got any tips for getting flecks of paint off my screen? It
looks like the bike was parked too close to a house being painted at
some point in the previous owner's, err, ownership.

Hairdryer and WD40 worked a treat on the silly number, Pip, TVM.

if it's just flecks of something like acrylic house paint, you should be
able to get them off with your thumbnail and maybe a bit of water. gloss
might peel off too with a soft scraper (like plastic). *don't* use a
strong solvent like petrol or alcohol:

when i myself had a zxr400 in sunny south london, i was bleeding the brakes
one day when thick-bint-in-a-convertible reversed into the bike. not much
damage, apart from the fact that all the brake fluid from the reservoir was
now all over the inside of the screen. lovely random frosted effect. i'm
sure it could have won artistic awards.

    TVM.

try "Duraglit" I've used it in the past for small scratches or
    paint splashes

if you ride with your chin on the tank, no wonder you have problems with
    low speed stability ;-)
it's overrated. i've managed to do similar on the aprilia with the
f*&%ggery stupidly designed filler splattering everything in a 2m radius
    with unleaded backwash, too. grr

Did summat similar to mine. Get an angle grinder, a rubber wotsit, a
polishing mop and a can of T cut. Dampened mop, slosh on T cut and half an
hour later it will be LIKE NEW! honest mines brill but be aware it is very
    VERY messy...

    Good luck
