I have this Orange SPV M3100. Had some MMS/Data connection problems and
orange asked me to delete the settings and re-configure. So the Orange
MMS GPRS/3G modem config has been deleted. Problem is when one goes to
reconfig it says "modem already exists".

I presume this is a typical M$ registry **** up. Any helpful hints on
    fixing it here?

Do you assume the "modem config has been deleted" or did you delete it
    yourself?

Try booting into Safe Mode and manually deleting the item in Device Manager.

Don't think you can do that on Mobile 5.

    As you were.

I was reading Hog's question as relating to the mobile handset being
registed on a Windows desktop as a modem.

No this is the internal config and yes I deleted it as suggested.

I've got a Mobile 5.0 regeditor running now but WTF is the setting, this
    editor has no search function

Lordy - you don't expect it to be easy do you? PPC software tends to
have all the really useful stuff left out - the only people who write
software for it are pretty well off geeks[1]. They know the settings,
so they don't need a search.

    I'd look to see if:
    * Orange can send the config over the air to you
    * You can download the config from Orange/manufacturers website somehow
    * You can factory reset it
    * There's a specialist forum you can ask on

    Best of luck.

[1] At least, I've not seen any free development stuff out there.

I thought that might be the course of action. I hope you kept a backup.
