Most of the sidestands in my possession resemble a length of steel
tube, with the end squished flat. Oh, and and bracket thingy welded on
    the end, coldly.

Shame it isn't an FX or FY model, cos I have a brand new sidestand in

Great - email me the details please )

Oh, I met LozH today, he's not as big as I thought he would be going on
your description. Compared to Fr Jack he's only small.

I'm trying to decide what to use for work tomorrow, cos the 400 won't
fit in the garage with the 600, so perhaps I should take that. Or
perhaps I should take the 600 and leave the car, putting the 400 back
in the garage. Except this means getting up earlier to do all the
    faffing about.

Oh well, at least the 400 will be living in Brighton from Tuesday
    evening.

    A little while ago.

Would you believe the day after I settled on the CBR he informed me
he's selling his proper Alstare Suzuki after his track-day in June? A
day earlier and I would've had something arranged and had a nice Suzuki
instead (plus I know how it's been treated, with total kid gloves). Oh
    well.

Heavens above, no! I've never got around to welding although it was
something I fancied doing - probably cos of the jobs the other two had.
We got rid of all our different types of bottles and stuff to others
'in the trade' when we moved.

Mind you, it would make a bit of a dent in the CV department, a
definate change from the IT and Accountancy shite.

    'fight fight fight fight'

On a serious note though, I don't want any arguing about the why's and
wherefores, I just need some confirmation from someone wiv a clue about
    having it done.

I'll let you all point and laugh now (and this is another reason to get
    the sidestand altered/changed).

At this point in time I will have to pre-plan my approach to landing
(so to speak) down our path because we live on a slight hill. And
because of the side of the road I live on, the camber goes against me,
see, when I ride down the path.

Hence the reason when I arrived home on Saturday that, due to someone
parking across our path (this doesn't happen often, granted) my
    approach had to be altered.

So. I stopped at the bottom of the path (still on an incline until you
get into the garage). I couldn't push the bike back again. Nor could
I get the sidestand down because when I did that that bike was vertical
so I was reliant on RichardA to push me back. And I don't normally do
this 'getting a helping hand cos I'm a burd shit'.

And of course you can't always rely on someone being there to assist
    anyway, should that occur again.

So the sidestand needs to be either altered or replaced.

I didn't realise you were a stammerer, Simes.

Anyway, if we did that we'd then need to change other things, in order
to stop the cars etc being damaged when they go over the top of the
    crevice, like.
