Did you sort your Usenet problems with Plusnet? I am still seeing the same
issues and have a dialogue going with them to try and resolve it.

cheap56k worked just fine for me....

  2. Hi,

I'm not aware of any particular problems with Usenet, but if there's
anything I can help with feel free to get in contact and I'll see what I can
    do.

PlusNet Support Team secured a place in history by writing:
Dave, you could do worse than have a squint at Ticket 19173996, which I'm
frustratedly running around in circles over with PlusNet's front line (We
recommend a virus-check. Run a speed test at a 'random time'. Which groups
    are causing problems? etc etc)

I'm more than happy to accept that I have a local issue, but the gist is:

It takes 60s+ to get a connection, from wirelessly connected machines,
since around the time you turned binaries off.
It used to be immediate, ever since I've been with PlusNet
It's immediate from a direct ethernet connected machine
It works absolutely fine, wirelessly, with other free usenet providers,
    with far inferior routing.
    I haven't changed anything
Verdigris started reporting very similar problems at the same time I
    started experiencing them.

My feeling is that something has changed at PlusNet's end, but this is in a
realm where I have no professional experience at all, so haven't a clue
what the problem could be - but I suspect network gurus might well have a
view on it, if Plusnet would elevate the ticket to a level where someone
who knows what they're talking about could have a sqint (ie not the guy who
wanted me to provide 'a copy of a traceroute and a ping to those websites
so we can see whats going off from your router to the usenet.'
