Cheers mate. I've just checked with the seller again and he's sold the
    car so that's become a non-starter.

    Ta muchly.

What sort of car are you looking for. I have a 1 owner from new 60k
miles Mitsubishi 1.8GLXi if you might be interested?

The cars I'm currently looking at are nice, sensible Japanese motors
    with slight sporting pretensions.

In other words I'm looking at a few Japanese grey import
nuttermobiles, in this case specifically at a few Nissan Skyline R32
GTSs. Trouble is, I want an unmolested one and the affordable ones
down here seem to be located in Essex, both physically and
spiritually. They're robust enough in stock form but once the 'cold
air induction and no fucking clue' crowd has sunk their claws into
them they can become rather expensive hand grenades.

Ooh, one of my mates has just bought one of those. Another has just
    shoehorned an RB25 into his S13 200SX - I like :)

What about an S14a 200SX Turbo... you can pick late ones of these up for
    about £6k now.

Jesus... last time I saw you, you were talking about an imminent, rather
large main dealer repair bill for said car.

    'Bargain, much cheapness!!!'

Was at the Halfway House on Thursday night, it's mainly S14s there now -
came up earlier in the year, and there were more S13s than anything.

Maybe they've all blown up by now. ;-)

I'm hoping to get an S14a if work holds out.

Yeah, I spent about fifteen hundred nicker on it last autumn: full
stainless exhaust, discs and pads all around, turbo rebuild, anti-roll
bar somethings, air filter, colder plugs and all that shit.
    I think they're good fun.

....and then sold it for £3k.

    Someone got a real bargain.
Certainly more fun than a lot of other, (ahem), 'sprots coupes' of their
    era.

    Heh. Proper nutter.
Dunno why, but the Skyline appeals more than the 200SX. Probably less
practical, but I just like the looks. Especially in the One True
    Colour.

Well he fitted six pot Tarox calipers with some vast dinner plate stylee
grooved front discs, as well as sorting the suspension at the same time, so
not quite as mad as you'd think... ;-)

The brakes were £700 on their own, and that was at second hand prices.

It all makes sense though - smoother, more reliable power in a, (lighter
than the donor), drift slag chassis...
I love six pots - I'd actually like an RB26 engined S14a, ideally... but a
tweaked four pot one is the most likely reality.

I can see that making sense.
Yeah, I know, the Skyline's somewhat heavier but I must admit I like
the fact that it's also somewhat bigger.
    Isn't this always the case...

Well, yes and no - it's a superb car to drive, but on the test drive I
didn't appreciate just how noisy it is even with the roof up. I mainly
use cars for long-distance driving and basically had to face up to the
fact that it triggered two migraines already.

And no, it's not especially noisy for a convertible, it's just that
    I'm very sensitive to noise.
