The 12,000 mile service will be due on my '01 Sprint RS in the next few
    weeks.

Would anyone care to recommend the best place to get this done ?

I bought the bike from Carl Rosner earlier this year; I know that they
have a good reputation, but South Croydon is a long way out of my way.

Metropolis in Vauxhall, on the other hand, I go past twice a day. I
just haven't been particularly impressed by the (sales) staff in there,
and I wonder if - given their location - they might just turn out to be
    over-priced and under-competent.

As this is the first major service, I assume it's best to go to a main
    Triumph dealer ?

Oh, while I'm here - I can feel a slight "notch" when the bars are at
full left-hand lock. Can there really be a problem with the steering
head bearings at 11,000 miles ? Is this a known issue with Triumphs ?

    TIA

  3. Sir has to consider the following.
Metropolis are quite a bit cheaper than all the other Triumph dealers.
Question is how come. They must save money some where so you pays yer
    money etc etc.
ALSO..... how come a first major service on an 01 bike. Thats 3k per
year, thats criminal, thats gonna need a good service to get rid of
the cobwebs...What you will find is that a Trimuph dealer doesnt
really sort out the bike untill its done 12K, so if its done properly
it will really make a difference.
In view of the age etc I think if I would go to the best recommended
dealer I could find and swallow very hard when you get the bill. (and
    call for life support)
    Best of luck .....

I get on with Boyer's (Plumstead, SE London) and Ongar (Great Dunmow,
Essex - yes not strictly London, but I don't know your starting point).

    [snip]
Yup, they'll tune your fuel injector mapping.
I don't know that it is a "known issue" but the Daytona had them
replaced at about 20,000 and so far the Tiger (12,000 ish) is still on
    original ones.

  5. I had my 36k Service done by them. good job apart from managing to get
a connector mixed so that the EM light came on but they leant me a
    bike while they fixed it.

you could take it to Jack Lilleys. Once upon a time I'd happily have
recommended them but the last time they had it they missed several
large items (like very worn brake disks, pads, and notched head
    bearings).

not in london but i'd happily recommend Flitwick motorcycles who are
getting my trumpet tomorrow for its fifth bit of warranty work.

    Thanks for the recommendation.

I live in Hackney and work in Wandsworth. This means that the basic
    equation is :

Metropolis = extremely convenient, but possibly not very good.

(I can leave home at roughly the normal time, drop the bike off, run up
the stairs to the overground station and catch a direct train to the
    office).

Anywhere else = a pain the arse, but worth enduring to get the job done
    properly.

So far the evidence is inconclusive !

Is that so ? Useful information...
Well, my thoughts exactly. I want to get it properly sorted precisely
because of the low mileage and the lack of dealer attention so far.
    Hence the question !

FWIW, the bike only had 5300 miles on it when I bought it in March,
with the 6000 mile service just done. I've used it every day since
    then.
