Paging trike owners and elephant runners

I have been giving a steed for the elephant some thought. The ZXR was
ideal for last year because it was already knackered and it didn't
matter if it got dropped. Loz has done such a good job on the NC24 I
really don't want to thrash it across Europe. The Benly is
underpowered given the other bikes going and I will not have done the
voodun necessary to raise the ZXR by January.

I don't want to learn how to steer a sidecar. I do need luggage space.

So, a trike would make sense yes? Before I start looking for something
road worthy (which will be punted out again after the trip) what do I
need to know? Is anyone here willing to let me have a go on theirs to
    see what they are like?

I want to book the ferry soon and they need to know your registration
so I suppose I should sort this out asap.

Shirley you can book using any old reg. and then change it later?

Do the ferry co's ever really check your reg?

They charge you for a change in details.
Yes, I'd messed about with going/not going due to work last year and
had changed vehicle details but ended up going on a different one and
had to do an explanation at check in as to why different, cue me
    looking pathetic.

I'm not willing to take the risk on this run.

I've made bookings for Sea France and P&O with bike A and rocked up to the
port on bike B. Neither company gave a toss.

Of course, if you phone them in advance to let them know the change then
the telesales droid will see an opportunity to earn commission...

Not if you pay the extra tenner when you book they don't.
So pay extra when you book.

No. You can book without a reg number, they take it at the port. I
can't see why they need it anyway.

The best answer I got out of them so far was "because".

I rarely tend to turn up with the vehicle I booked the crossing for and
so far, never had any problems.

Where's the option to do that? At least then I can get the ferry
booked so I don't wriggle out of it.

It'd be stupidly good fun on wet roads around town.

It's all home made with leading link forks mated to a steering set-up
for the chair wheel, it has the biggest brake disc I have ever seen
mounted inbetween chair and bike with a huge AP racing caliper. Geoff
wanted a fully enclosed alloy body for the chair, so he taught himself
to shape alloy and weld it - the chair was his first ever attempt at
    fabrication in that material.

This thing has to be seen to be believed.
