Paging TOG...

  1. A GS450 *might* have come my way.

Is there anything of note to look out for or is that you I can hear
    laughing from here?

It's not an eBay job, it's reasonably priced although I've not seen it
    yet and it's fairly local.[1]

So, what's your opinion on this beast? What's it worth, assuming average
condition for year (1986) and is there anything that's going to break on
    it yet?

I don't know the mileage, sorry, but give give us a rough idea if you
    can.

    Thanks, Mister.

[1] Seen an ad in a local rag. The seller isn't in yet and I'm awaiting
    a phone call.

I had a GSX400E (similar motor, just an extra couple of valves in the head),
and I quite liked it. Poweful enough to leave traffic behind, and with a
nice little extra bit of grunt coming in at 7000rpm.

The one thing to look out for, I believe is it burning out the alternator.
Mine had been rewired at 30K, and the reg-rec replaced with a more reliable
    Honda Superdream item.

If you get it, I`ve got a set of igniters/coils/reg-rec and other assorted
electrical items lurking around somewhere. You`re welcome to them if I can
    remember where they are.

  3. I rode one to the Cologne bike show and then onto the Bol in, IIRC,
    1986.

Decent little hack. Smooth, comfy, economical. Lozzo is right about the
    electrics.

Other than that, no real weak spots.

ISTR the venerable aged one has made this error a couple of times now. I
thought the collection of SOBs in my sig that I imagine your own good self
wouldn`t be seen dead on would be enough, not to mention the hairy, ugly and
    fat bit....

  11. It's because my aged peepers see the letters Loz, and then the addled
brain sort of fades out the rest.

  12. In uk.rec.motorcycles, Loz H amazed us all with this pearl of wisdom:
I don't have a voltage tester to hand but I'll check it out. If the sod
    ever gets back to me...
Maybe yes, but I'm just looking atm. If the bike's as reliable as the
    seller...
