I've been mooching through ads and found this: "2003 03 Reg Moto Guzzi California Stone 1064 cc Standard, 3,800 miles, White. £3,000." Before I start spending time popping over to the dealer for a look, does the price seem "right"? Any major faults to watch out for? -- Cheers! Fr Jack 96 Tiger. Fr Jack scribbled on the back of a napkin: I don't think that's off by too much - I think they're pretty close to 6k now... Finish, probably. Mechanically they have a certain John Deereness about them...
Wow. That's cheap. Amazingly cheap. Offer him £2500. As Timo says - finish and anciallaries, but generally, they're pretty good these days. Still an acquired taste, mind.
Or a straight swap for the Tiger? Improvement is good. Acquired taste..... I like v-twins, shafties and aircooling. -- Cheers! Fr Jack 96 Tiger. FRJACKUKRM AT GMAIL DOT COM skype: fr.jack (without the dot) Insomnia sucks!
I've sat on a couple of Californias with floorboards, and found the riding position a bit odd. My feet were too far forward for a normal bike, and not far enough forward for a cruiser. It was like being on a bus or similar with not enough legroom. However, I think the Stone variant might have pegs rather than footboards.
I had a ride on a new California a year or so ago and also found it odd but a lot of that could be put down to having just got off my Guzzi. So in summary I'm not sure. wibble. I was pretty impressed how it went though.
