paging TOG - Valuation ZZR1100

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Doesnotcompute, May 21, 2005.

  1. Hi Tog - just a quick one.

ZZR1100, R reg, gunmetal grey, fair cosmetic condition with some
corrosion of the rear foot peg sets etc, 42k miles, givi hard boxes (top
+ 2 sides). Slight marking on inlet cam, approx £200 + Labour to get sorted.

More details from Monsignor Eaton of this Parish, but what's a ballpark
    figure for value?

    Cheers,

  2. Seat of the pants says about £2400. The givis are nice to have - make it
more desirable, but don't add to the value, if that doesn't sound like a
    paradox.

Labour for a new cam will be about another ton. Might as well re-shim it
    at the same time.

I'm really not sure that the cam needs sorting. I noted it (and asked
about it on here) when I did the valve clearances a while back. I
decided to put it back together and have another look at the next valve
service to see whether it had got any worse. But you need to know about
it. And you do, so that's good.

S'got a snotoiler with touring reservoir BTW. That could be important...
    ;^)

It's got a Datatool immobiliser as well. Come to think of it that could
    be important too...

I've also got a spare rear shock that I bought and never got round to
fitting, and a replacement rear footpeg (another Ebay special) that I'll
    chuck in.

Have you got an insewerance quote on this yet, BTW? They're in a pretty
    high group.

That doesn't always mean as much as you'd think though, tbh... I can insure
    a 94 CBR1000 for almost half what I can a 94 VFR750, yet both are group 14,
    IIRC.
www.insurance2000.co.uk - H and Rs online quotes system should give you a
good idea of how much it's likely to be. I, frustrated by the inability to
score a CBR1000 at the right price yet, looked into getting an early 90s
ZZR1100, last week... and was glad I was sitting down when the quote came
    through. ;-)

  7. Out of interest I had a quick butchers, looks like it would be ~£30
more than the Fazer at around £150 and I am sure I could get that down
a bit with a few phone calls. So are you really accident prone or
    living in bike theft central?

1 years NCB doesn't help, probably, nor does the fact that for their
porpoises, the bike is left ungaraged during the day (doesn't seem to matter
it's invariably securely locked up out the back of this place).

Here in 'Sunny Canterbury', I don't believe you're pride and joy is that
much at risk, unless you happen to own a twist and go, trailie or half
decent looking mountain bike - in other words, if it's desirable to the
    younger scrotes in society.

The contents of your car are more likely to be stolen than the vehicle
itself, unless you happen to own something equally attractive to a certain
younger section of local society, that being a Nova, an XR3i or something
equally piss poor in terms of stick on tat, and lacking in any real
    security.

However, saying all that... it doesn't seem too bad as places go, in this
respect - it might be down to the fact now that apparently their are more
students living here, than there are actual natives, as it were, according
    to a recent report.

Anyway... the Fazer is £210 TPFT, a CBR thou would be £298 TPFT, and a
VFR750 or ZZR1100 are both up there at a shade under £600 TPFT. All were
valued at between £1500 and £2k for the porpoises of the quotes.

So anyway... if anyone is after any Fazer bits, and is in possession of a
nice, shady looking Transit, I can give them my address, and details of when
we're likely to all be out, over the next week, if they wish. ;-)

  12. Which way?

    A 1998 bike.... hmmm... with above-average miles...

I reckon a dealer would ask 3k for it. Depends on what you mean by
"fair" condition. If it's got some scuffs, scratches, etc, then maybe
    worth less....

The Givi boxes are a definite plus. I reckon it'd sell for 2.8k,
privately. I'd like to know which way Lozzo's estimating, because 2k
would be giving it away, and 3.6k is way too much.

Lozzo was shooting lower than you. It *is* a little cosmetically

    Doesnotcompute says...
    Coooeee.

OK, to be as fair as I can to Nigel it's not anywhere near as clean and
tidy as the red ZZR1100D2 that I sold last year, though it has been
serviced regularly. It has the same mileage and is now only a year
newer than mine was then. Mine was luggage-less but had a Givi monorack
and an immobiliser plus some other choice extras like hugger etc. Mine
had new tyres, new chain and sprockets, new battery, a brake rebuild
with new pads all round and was very very tidy for its age/mileage. I
got 1750ukp for mine, which is about all it was worth going by other
adverts I saw at the time for similar bikes.

I based my valuation of Nigel's around that price allowing a little
extra for the luggage. I wasn't aware of the immobiliser, Baglux cover
or the Scottoiler fitted to the Eaton-mobile. I'll amend by valuation
to approx 2000 to 2200ukp now I know the score.

BTW, the luggage is Nonfango, not Givi. I know this because I was the
one who originally bought it for my second C2.

Ah. I've just seen that they're described as "Givi". Who started that
    rumour? ;^)

You're absolutely right, of course, they are Nonfango.
