No idea. But I have to say, I'm not normally a fan of small plates. But
    that bike *needs* one.

    Less than that, I'd say.

I also noticed the crappy photos...

Wicked Uncle Nigel emerged from their own little world to say
which vehicle do the TC buy this for:
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=9882&item=4501527550

You think he would've used a different user name.

    My blatant heterosexuality says otherwise.

  7. It's a cruiser. People like them (well, some do). I'd say ukp1400.

Agreed, on both counts. How are you, BTW? And any closer to
resurrecting your Intruder? ( Ooh, Matron? )

Yeah. Too expensive for a 21 year old bike, ex-import, and at the low
end of the power scale for what it is.

From what I see, seller has a starting bid of 1500 but that's still not
his reserve. With *no bids* in almost a week. FFS, selling in February
at an already overpriced target. Twonk.

I might list this fluffy sweetie from my pocket at a starting bid of
    3.50? Is that a bargain?

Dagnab it. I've mislaid your home addy, and don't want to send this
bumph to your work one that my machine defaulted to.

Drop me a line and I'll send the info ( looks promising for you! ) that
    I've got here.

Please share... It might come in handy some day to know the truth of
this. At the very least it can be added to the useless fact pile.

Cut & pasted from my mail to DNC:

    Taken from www.intruderalert.com <http://www.intruderalert.com> - in
the Cafe>Technical area, searching for VX 800.
Want me to mail any of the posters for more info?
    Regards,
    Dave.

Anyone know the main differences between the VS800 intruder engine and
the VX800 roadster engine. The VX800 kicks out and extra 13HP over a
stock intruder, that would be a nice gain. Same capacity, different
carbs and cams maybe? Anyone looking to bring the revs down a little
may want to look into the bevel drive box aswell as this has a higher
    ratio drive.
    Cheers - Sparky

As far as I know the engines are both the same. The VX800 is actually
805 cc's. The frame and every thing else is new. By looks of things the
exhaust system on the VX looks like it flows better than the VS. The VX
can break into the 12's in the quarter mile with a capable rider.
Looking at both bikes the VX is also much lighter than the VS. This
translates into a quick agile motorcycle. I had the opportunity to ride
with Warlock who has a VS750. This bike is by no means a slouch. Add 50
more CC's and less weight and you have a very fast motorcycle. The VX
is a rare motorcycle so you might consider looking for message boards
or road tests. You may find the answers you are looking for.

The US versions of the VS800 Intruder and the VX800 Roadster used the
same motor. They are absolutely identical, except that the VX800 used a
fuel pump run off engine vacuum, while the Intruder uses an electric
fuel pump. I know a couple folks who have made this swap, and other
then making a vacuum line it is a direct swap. The guy going from the
750 to the VX800 motor was pleased, but the guy going from the VS800 to
the VX800 could not tell the difference between the two motors.
The first year the VX800 was in production the Intruder was still a
750, so the VX did make more HP. But once the VS became an 800 also,
the HP was identical. The US version only lasted 3 years.
The European version of the VX800 used a 75-degree crankshaft instead
of a 45-degree crank shaft, making the European version smoother and it
revs a bit more freely, while the US version has more "character" and
gives the rider more feedback. Both versions use the 45-dregree
cylinder angle, so they are a direct swap. The model hung on in Europe
for another year or two after it was dropped in the US. But again, the
HP figures are identical at the same RPM. The US version was geared
with the 55 MPH speed limit in mind, while the European version was
    geared for higher speeds.

Only the final drive gear is different (3.2-1 Vs 3.39-1), to account
for the different size rear wheel. I do not know of anyone who had
swapped a VX shaft drive unti into a VS, so I don't know how hard this
    would be.
