Didn't do himself any favours by not taking the bike out of the garage
and posting photos from different angles though. I'll bet poor
salesmanship is a factor in this case.

Well, Ducati slashed their retail prices at the time. The 750SS had
been about £7.5k before. Mind you, they cut the price again after I
    bought mine. :-/
They aren't, I'm afraid. Nor is Glass's always accurate. CAP is pretty
good. Mine's in reasonable nick: some corrosion on the exhausts, a few
scratches and chips, some paint lifting off the engine cases. It's
mechanically sound as a pound, but the mileage - approaching 30k -
    knocks it down.

I think YTC1's missus paid about £1600 for hers, and it's definitely
in nicer nick than mine. So £1700 is probably optimistic.
    Indeed.

See I knew he was the standard deluded Duke owner. It will be buried
    beside him.

Talking of which, I've seen there's a dealer (can't remember who,
off-hand) who has a handful of the budget black, single disc 750SS in
stock - flogging 'em for £3999.

Are they a bargain, or a heap of junk?

I'll be keeping mine for at least 3 years which makes the hit a bit
easier to take. The bike's a toy and toys are expensive.

  9. Bargain. Except the colour is gash. The single disc is... OK, but twin
is better. However, there are enough used parts out there to make that
an easy "as and when" job.

    Hmmmm.

Come at the wrong time, really. I've just booked the shite old Alfa in
for a bit of a makeover, my bonus doesn't come through until Feb, and
I've just promised Katie a new wooden floor in the lounge.

I refuse to finance a bike ever again.

Shame, I'd have been almost tempted, 'cos I actually like the colour.

  12. Flog the car, stick the bike on a CC and just swallow a month or two's
interest until your bonus comes through, and use that stick-on faux
parquet - she'll never notice the difference.

Stick your bonus into a 5% savings account in February and earn 9 months
    interest on it.

    Sorted.

    Nice plan.

Only it's her job to know the difference.

I couldn't bring myself to sell 'the fridge', I have plans for it next
year. Just need to find a cheap source of sticky rubber.

I can't find anywhere near here close to A&M's prices. Looks a bit of a

    Excellent. Bookmarked.

I'll give 'em a call and find out if they do Colways.

Well sure 2,3,4 years. Whatever floats your boat, it's cheap all the
    same.

It'll cost you less than 80 quid to convert if you buy
the bits off ebay, but just check that the mounting
point for the second caliper is there otherwise
it'll cost you a lot more for forks.

I don't disagree, but if the above is true, why are dealers still
asking what seem to me to be mental prices for used supersports bikes?

Are they being bargained down to sensible prices or are they just not
    selling anything?[/QUOTE]

One for TOG. I wonder *exactly* the same. Sure a few dealers have gone
down but plenty are still breathing.
