  5. What?! that's not allowed! You must know the answer - the world will
come an end now that there is a bike you cannot value. You have
shattered my world. Destroyed all my certainties. <sob>

I shall have to ring the boss and say I cannot come to work tomorrow
because it will spoil my last day of life on earth as I know it.

Molly emerged from their own little world to say
'snot a road bike so I'm not surprised.

I've just asked a friend, via MSN, who has ridden enduros for 20 years. He
says "**** knows" too. Depends on whether the bike has been used for gentle
green laning or thrashing around a MotoX track by a hamfisted teenager.

Maybe he has had an accident while riding his 1979 Fantic 250 in an
    enduro.................lol

Tricky cove, the 230. Aimed squarely at the short-arses/girlies, &
whilst they haven't got much to compete with in that sector, what they
have got (the Pampera) is a much better bike. The drum rear brake &
outsourced build quality also put people off.

So you're left with a tiny[1] market - short people who want to spend
more money on a worse bike with half the power, plus those who really
want a Pampera, but don't want the perceived hassle of pre-mix. Hence
they're very much in the 'what someone's willing to pay' camp when it
    comes to value.

    I reckon 2500 - 2700 is probably the right ballpark, but I'd suggest a
trip to the newsagents for a flick through Trials & Motocross News
    would be worthwhile.

    [1] D'ya see what I did there?

I'm spending this week in the garage having a servicing fest[1], so
'catch-up' is the order of the day wrt UKRM.

[1] Good job too, having seen the state of the MV's rear hub
bearing[2]. I suspect things may have turned 'interesting' on a future
ride. The good news is all the valve clearances are fine - yippee.

What's involved in adjusting the valve clearances on your MV? Is it a
cylinder head off job, as I understand some were?

It's a good job you spotted that in time to prevent a serious
accident. I wouldn't want to ride far on a Slovakian bearing.

So if I were to obtain said bike for £1500, it would be not a bad deal then?

Gentle green laning by a bloke who's had all sorts of bikes all his life.
This particular bike just doesn't float his boat.

  19. Not just that. Tiny balls spinning fast - not good. Probably better in a
    decent-quality bearing though.

Sounds like a bargain if you can get it for the price you posted earlier
and of course you have faith in the provenance.
