Which was why my 400/4 was so rarely used. Fun as it was, I only got
it out when I felt guilty enough about just letting it sit there.

Nah, they're just cheering you on and waving encouragingly. What else could
    it possibly be? :)

Point of order here - you're clearly not getting it anywhere hear the
true 'balance point', otherwise it wouldn't need additional
    acceleration to keep it up.

I know I'm keeping it very near the balance point, and a few times a
bit too far beyond, necessitating some hasty throttle shutting and some
panicky rear brake. I can keep it there on the throttle in 1st gear,
rolling on and off, for quite a long time. Obviously I err on the side
of caution, so eventually I do run out of chuff in 1st.

When I try for 2nd (clutchless, natch), I'm rolling off too much,
bringing the front down, which then needs to be brought back up.

    I'm guilty as charged though.

I know I'm going to put 15-20k a year on a bike that's going to be used
in all weathers. I can't bring myself to cough up for something
suitable (Pan-Euro, R1200 etc.) so continue with the K100.

However, to be fair to the K100 it's let me down twice in about 57,000
miles so it's not so bad at all.

At the moment it's hard to take the K100 over the ZXR but then again the
ZXR also falls into the 'shite bike' category!
