    Well kind of..

I am looking for my 2005 ride and I think it will be a BMW GSA, the
prices appear to be dropping now, (depite the PR work of EMcG/CB) when do
you think they will bottom out? I dont need it until the end of February
so I would like to hold out as long as possible.

    TIA

Ovenpaa emerged from their own little world to say
    Here's my 2p:

GSAs are predominantly bought by the relatively wealthy who have more
than one bike. They tend to keep their bikes for a long time. 1150 GSAs
will shortly be dropped from the BMW line up. EMcG etc ride 1200s -
wannabes will not even look at the 1150. Many 1150GS owners think the
1200GS is a retrograde step - too bland.

1150GS prices *seem* to be dropping now as many of them are 5 years old
with very high mileages. Likewise, there will be a few 3 year old GSAs
with high mileages coming onto the market. Low mileage GS prices seem to
be as strong as ever (see below).

Most GS owners (despite the reputation) are fair weather riders and tend
to keep them for a long time. E.g. my bike is 4 years old and has done
26k. It does very long trips in the summer but hardly gets used between
    November and April.

By next summer, I reckon that 1150GS supply will dry up. GSAs will
become rarer as the few that come onto the market will be snapped up by
owners of older, standard 1150s wanting a newer bike that's not a 1200.

If you look at http://www.ukgser.com/forums/ then you have to go back to
October to find a GSA advertised for sale.

I had a look at biketrader too. The only GSAs for sale were broken ones.
Standard 1150 prices seem to be good too. Dealer price for a 2002 bike
£6499 with some jokers asking £6999 for a 2001 bike.

My advice: in the rare event that you see a genuine GSA now, buy it.
However, be careful. Most of those on sale now at attractive prices will
have a history to reflect that price.
