A mate of mine has a 1997 Ducati Monster 750 front wheel with a small
flat in it, any use? He says it's from a single disc bike, but I thought
they had the other disc mounts already there but covered. It'll cost you
    buttons.

    Nige has bought it.
I'm buying an 05 plate SV650, I love the SV thing to bits. The new one
is fully faired and black...all black. Despite all the good things Hog
has to say about the ST4S, they're not as cheap as I first thought, so
as much as I'd love to own one, I won't be at the mo.
I'm not, I just haven't got my lazy arse into sticking it all on eBay.
The bike is broken down now, apart from the engine and rolling chassis
being together still. If anyone knows of someone wanting to upgrade a
Bandit 600 with a Gixer 750 engine that will slot straight in, let me
know. I have an engine with carbs going cheap. Or, buy the whole bike as
    it stands for 400 quid.

The USD forks will slot straight into a Bandit 6 or 12. Rear wheel is
identical to a Bandit 1200 one etc etc

D'you still need that gear-change linkage? I was about to wander out to
    the workshop.

One of the funkier toys I saw in my days loitering at Maidstone bridge
was, iirc, a CBR900RR engine in an FZR400R frame with NC30 swingarm and
    custom-made under-seat pipes.

Other than the RGV500 (with leftover bodywork sourced from a skip in
Edenbridge, if you catch my drift) I saw parked up at the quay in Rye a
few years ago, it was the hardest-to-identify special I've ever seen.

Ah right, cool. I did wonder, coz I knew how much you liked your SV.

In fact, I'm pushed to think of anyone whose bike choice-fu I respect
    *not* liking an SV.[/QUOTE]

It's the engine. You can forgive it's little deficiencies because the
motor more than makes up for everything else. I love the grunt, power
delivery and noise it makes, which it does with absolutely zero vibes. I
don't have huge solid bar ends on mine, but there's no vibration through
the bars at all. Now I've tweaked the rear shock a bit, and upped the
front preload it doesn't handle too badly either.
It is a Slingshot, but one of the last of that ilk. The L was the first
of the Gixers to have multi-adjustable USD forks and a multi-adjustable
rear shock. In other words, they were perfect for fucking up the
handling if you didn't have a clue about suspension. The frame design of
the J, K, L and M takes the 1100 easier than earlier 750 slabbies, but
the L and M were a more popular choice for the 7/11 conversions because
    of the advanced suspension.
