  1. Whilst having a little browsette and a few little purchases in Halfords
just now I decided I needed a long reach plug spanner. The problem was I
    didn't know which one! 10mm, 12mm or 14mm?

The HBOL tells me the boggo standard plug for my bike is NGK DPR8EA-9
and I believe these are the ones that are fitted. To me they look like
car sized ones BICBW, which is why I'm asking. I would Google but
frankly I wouldn't know which keywords to use and the said BOL doesn't
mention the wrench size I need.

    So, FOAK, which one?

    Hmm?

    Why not try "NGK DPR8EA-9"?

I have a few theories but I'm opting for the prescription drugs and alcohol
    one. Close?

it depends how the plug spanner is measured i.e. it can be measured
across the flats or the diameter. Either that get one at halfords and
stick it into each spanner until you find one that fits and then make
sure it fits into your engine block, I had to buy the Honda part as I
    couldn't get one from Halfrods.

You would've been but no illicit or prescription drugs have been past my
lips for years. I also don't drink regularly. As anyone here who's been
to a meet that I've attended can testify, four pints of the strong stuff
and I'm ready to call it a night.

Basically, day to day life just isn't worth getting that excited about
and using brain power takes energy, energy I don't have to waste.

Yebbut as far as I`m aware, for threads of 10/12mm, assume a 16mm hex (which
is the case for this particular plug) and for 14mm assume a hex of 21mm.

Also, whenever I`ve been to buy a plug spanner they`ve always been sold as
10mm/12mm/14mm/whatever, as you can see from WCs original post.

Bad form and all that, replying to my own post, but upon checking my own
plugs, (D8EA and DR8-ESL), they appear to be 18mm hex. So, I`ll shut up
now. Find a nice corner to sit in....

  14. I was waiting for someone to point that out.
Most older bike plugs I have come across are 18mm hex.
Newer Hondas (I dont work on much else) have the smaller plugs (IIRC
    12mm hex)

I use the same plugs in my rat.

The plug spanner to use on them is a 12mm (stamped into it), which is
    approx 20mm across the flats.

  17. 18mm.
The problem is that most plug (car type) spanners will have too thick
a wall to get down to the plug.

Use the one from your bike tool kit.

Oh, that was in the tailpiece you cut off?

    Whoops.

The Blackbird's toolkit under the seat has a special tool for the long reach
to the plugs [1], unsure of the size but if you can get hold of it, might
    just do the trick

[1] after 2 hours of struggling with std spanners, I looked, found, swore,
    and sorted the bike

It's worth noting a lot of spark plug spanners are marked with the thread
size of the plug they're designed for. At least, two of the ones I have
    are...
