    For your information:

My XR600 sensei has just suggested me the Bridgestone Enduro ED01 and
    ED02 , for a girlie 50% on-road and 50% off-road use. ED03/ED04 are
for mainly off-road use (and real men, as he said).

The design of those ED01/02 tyres is similar to the Continental TKC80,
which the Huns use for shipping the R1200GS Adventure (this is a clue
    of their intended use).

If off-road use around the Chateau is not expected (or pizza delivery
is expected) I'd suggest supermotard kit.

Heh. Well, it's got a nearly new Avon Gripster on the back and I'll
stick a new ditto on the front. I ratethem as road tyres and they're
up to gentle green lane work, which is as much as I think I'll ever do
    on the XT.

TKC80s are well regarded with R-GS riders. They are pretty good on UK green
    lanes and around Salisbury Plain.

I'm going on an Alpine holiday soon. I've fitted Conti Road Attacks on the
R-GS as it will be asphalt roads only. I've ridden the bike to Lille and
back from S.Wales and around the Brecon Beacons National Park. They are
excellent. Much better for road use than any of the ersatz off-road tyres
    e.g. Metzeler Tourance
Avon Gripsters are excellent on 600cc thumpers. I used them on a Honda
    Dominator.

  4. I fitted one on the back of one of the 850s - it coped pretty well.
